League Two's bottom side Sutton United have sacked manager Matt Gray.

Sutton were beaten 8-0 at leaders Stockport County on Saturday to leave them without a league win in five and six points from safety.

Gray, 42, became manager in 2019 and led them to the Football League for the first time in their history in 2021.

"Matt will forever have a large place in Sutton's history as the manager who took us to the Football League," a statement from the club said.

No one has Sutton in The Fishy Buster so the prize for 1st team to sack their manager is still up for grabs.

Why? What's happened with his teams?

Our work associate who is a big Sutton fan tells us that FGR are reportedly set to sign Harry Smith from them in the transfer window. Also, their players were practically scrapping with each other on the pitch after the battering at the weekend which doesn't say a lot about their team spirit. He reckons they are as good as down, barring a minor miracle. Would be nice if FGR went down with them, but I suspect Vince will splash enough cash to keep them up.

No surprise Cooper has gone. He did well to get them up, then keep them up (much like the Sutton manager), but the Greek Oligarch owner was never going to leave him in the role after that run of form.
