I might be missing something but Contehs regular appearances on the bench feels harsh. He’s hit a slightly rough patch but for me he’s evidently our best player when even playing at 80% of his potential

Big chance to relieve some pressure today, we'll go into 18th at least with a win, possibly even 16th.

He did look a cut above early doors, but I think he played well below standard in the games before he was dropped.

I watched FGR at Harrogate earlier in the season and they were dreadful. In fact both teams were terrible that day. They do have one very tidy looking player though and that is Kyle McAllister - a Modric type player who makes things tick and who gets about the pitch with a very sweet left foot. Look out for him if you’re there. Wonder how many fans we’ll have there today.?

You can't really play Green & Conteh together as they're too similar. Unless you push Conteh into an attacking midfielder role and I'm not sure you'd drop Gav or Andrews from that role on current form.

Green deserves the start after the last few games.

Conteh will be back for sure at some point.

Humberside have it on the FM waveband and also it’s on Freeview channel 721, but I don’t suppose that’ll help you much.

Try contacting Mariners TV for an international pass, as for RH try this:-

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_humberside

I don't know if either will work but give it a try.

Matt Dean appears to be on holiday / have the day off today and Tondeur frequently misses long distance away games these days. We've still got a commentator and an ex-town player covering it and Mike White is anchoring so I really don't know what you can complain about here.

He's clearly never watched a Grimsby game in his life and gets far too excited about normal action.
Apart from that he's tolerable.

One thing I will say about today's commentator is that he has zero clue who any of our players are. Frequently he's just referring to 'grimsby players' instead of calling them by their name, and when he does try to identify someone half the time he gets it wrong (he's just called Holohan Green, and keeps calling Pyke Andrews)

Our expert commentator told us the ball came off ( unnamed ) Grimsby player for a corner and Green ( No8 ) crossed the ball. It was Holohan. This guy is very poor but mouthy.

So going back to your no reason to complain comment you've now actually conceded that the commentator had no idea who our players are and keeps calling them by the wrong name.

Is that reason enough now to complain? 😂

25 minutes gone and on the whole, we look to be in charge and playing good football. You feel a goal is coming soon for us as their defence looks awful.

Way more than 150 town fans you can see that just by the camera as the ball comes to the touch line.
Commentary is awful.
We're clearly playing against a big head wind. Keep going and aslong as we're not behind at half time it's looking good.

There's no reason to complain about the standard of coverage the bbc are providing. When Tondeur's commentating he gets half the players names wrong these days so it's no different to normal.

Anyway that's never a penalty and this ref is shite.

Another shocking ref decision against us

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Such clumsy defending though. Had several opportunities to clear it, Holohan got wrong side of the ball, Rodgers too slow to react.

Never a penalty, blatant dive, but all came about from Maher standing still with ball at his feet with time to clear, prats about till closed down and then it was all just desperate attempts to get it away

McAllister their best player, as I pointed out he would be pre-game. Other than that, they are gash, but winning.

Never a penalty but we had several chances to clear the ball before it got in our area. All started from a very poor ball from Holohan who then looked like he was running in treacle when trying to recover.

Not really deserved and wind spoiling the game

Fukin refs in our league are gash

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Looks like we’ve been playing against the wind first half - judging by that McAllister shot against the bar.
Is Eisa playing - pretty sure he can do similar (but better) second half

Shocking. This is a golden opportunity to climb away from the drop zone and we are blowing it.

However, we have generally been better second half recently so let’s hope we can get something out of this game.

If the wind direction doesn’t change (ok no Eisa) and we bring Wilson on - Pearson gives them a half time blast - Town can still win this

For those calling for Pearson and Davies to be given a chance of full time management.................forget it !

We have been appalling apart form the first 10 minutes, totally clueless.

What concerns me most is that Forest Green are absolute crap, which says a lot about the quality of our performance.

Big improvement needed second half !

Hunt, Conteh and Wilson for Holohan, Andrews and either Pyke or Gnahoua and go 4-3-3 with the wind..

Midfield has been shocking leaving defence exposed, and all three can't pass or run..

Apart from a couple of worldies I’m not sure what difference Eisa has made in the last month or two.

Not sure what Shaun & Ben will do but I’d certainly try and get 2 up front.

Just shows that 3 games of drawing against 6th tier, barely winning against morecambe and winning against 6th tier doesnt make you a full time manager. Grimsby needs a fix, someone with experience and a plan. They dont need it in a month, they need it asap!

FGR fans: ‘we’re winning at home, we’re winning at home. How excrement must you be, we’re winning at home.’

Funny game this. Even until the penalty and then self destruct.

Hard luck if you're listening on the radio because this bloke on the commentary hasn't got anything right, even with a replay he still thinks it's Rodgers who gave the pen away.

Still in this. I'd like to see Hunt and Wilson on for Gnahoua and Andrews. Think if we get one they might crumble

Commentator making a terrible half even worse with his w@nking over the ‘worldie’ second goal and his inability to get any players’ name right.

This was my major take from the first half. Football isn’t good but not bad, FGR not great but not poor, just an average game of L2 football really. Other than the score only a few little complaints here and there which I’m sure would be true of FGR fans too.

But yeah, the commentator is making those little annoyances even worse and I’m finding myself shouting at him through the TV for being so sl-lit.

Terrible performance, especially defensively. Just sh1t. Get Rodgers out of the team, he’s a massive liability. With the ball, no better. Nothing. Just no threat and can’t manage basic defending.

Just shows that 3 games of drawing against 6th tier, barely winning against morecambe and winning against 6th tier doesnt make you a full time manager. Grimsby needs a fix, someone with experience and a plan. They dont need it in a month, they need it asap!

I feel reasonably confident that we’ll have someone in by the Sutton game next weekend. Two cup games and a league win have relieved the sense of urgency somewhat, but that’s about to ramp right up and a month is ample time to run a robust process.

Obviously not great, but I don't know how anyone can say we haven't had a goal threat. We had one cleared off the line by our own player and several other scrambles in the box. Wind is a massive factor, still a possibility we could come back from this.

the wind is playing a part and we need to capitalise on it.  We started playing long diagonal balls.  Madness kicking into the wind. Still think we can get back into this though.

Can’t see us getting back into this and I’m actually thinking FGR will extend their lead before we do score. They keep the ball well and don’t rush, unlike Morecambe who looked to play forward quickly. That meant when we won the ball we had space and areas to attack, whereas FGR don’t leave anything. They’re patient, composed and although few chances for them they’ve probably been the better of the chances.

From our side, we haven’t been able to force as many errors, haven’t won the ball back as often as last weekend and we haven’t got into any flow. The few chances we have created have never really looked - bar the goal line clearance - like it’s troubling them in any way shape or form.

I’m gonna go with a FGR scoring next with Town then waking up and grabbing two back, the second being in the 86th minute, meaning we chase the game. Doing that allows FGR to break and they go on to score again and win 4-2.

I always remember going to Spotland and Town finding itself 2-0 down .
Town won 5-2 - it is possible (although Town did have a team with the powers of such recovery) -circa 1980?

In the early part of the season Harvey Rodgers was widely thought to be the best centre half we've had for years.
Stand out for Accrington in league one last year despite relegation. So what's happened?

Green is a better player than he gets credit for, he must be as according to the commentator he’s just had a shot whilst not being off the pitch 😂

Started this half better though.

flipping hell you boring illegitimate DB was moaning about the level of coverage town are provided by the BBC and the reference to 'nothing to complain about' was related to the fact we've still got live coverage today, a commentator and an ex-player doing punditry, so it's not like the BBC are cutting costs because Matt Dean's on holiday and Tondeur can't be bothered to travel to a lot of long distance away games any more. It was not a reflection on the level of competence of the substitute commentator. Get a life.

flipping hell you boring illegitimate DB was moaning about the level of coverage town are provided by the BBC and the reference to 'nothing to complain about' was related to the fact we've still got live coverage today, a commentator and an ex-player doing punditry, so it's not like the BBC are cutting costs because Matt Dean's on holiday and Tondeur can't be bothered to travel to a lot of long distance away games any more. It was not a reflection on the level of competence of the substitute commentator. Get a life.

Look matey there's no need to call me. I've paid the money the BBC has asked for so they can provide a quality service. I expect a quality service, not some guy who tells us Green has put in a good cross, while he's sitting in the dugout. Do you pay for a pint and accept 2/3 rds, no you don't.

If you want to spend your money and accept sh1t, that's ok by me. I don't.

Grimsby being 2 -0 has nothing to do with the windy conditions.
One was a penno (dubious) and the other was a short back-side pass which was pounced upon by FGR.

Deary me what was that corner routine? Why are we trying to play it to Andrews with his 1 career goal to attempt a poor effort from distance instead of chucking it into the 6 yard box with a blustery wind making the path of the ball difficult for the defence to judge?

Showing your class there with the personal insults to respond when you've backed yourself into a corner.

Don't worry though I'll do to you what I've done with the commentary and mute it.

How come we’re Grimsby and they’re Rovers on our local broadcasted? I’m always a bit funny about Town fans who call us Grimsby (in friendly circles).

Green scored? Lol.

It was either Holohan or Wilson who scored. Holohan took the shot and has been credited with the goal by the Press Association, but the officialgtfc twitter account is claiming Wilson got a touch on it before it crossed the line. I'm sure it'll be cleared up after the match.

Quoted from Chrisblor
It was either Holohan or Wilson who scored. Holohan took the shot and has been credited with the goal by the Press Association, but the officialgtfc twitter account is claiming Wilson got a touch on it before it crossed the line. I'm sure it'll be cleared up after the match.

Wilson wasn’t on the pitch when the first goal went in and clearly scored the second without assistance.

I can't tell if this a quip about the commentator being incompetent or whether you're just completely confused. Town have literally tweeted a picture of the ball deflecting off Wilson for the first goal, he was definitely on the pitch.

Was a brilliant run from Hunt there to take a few players out of the game and get them on the back foot. All Holohan had to do was shift it out to the wing quickly and we'd have been in a dangerous position but instead dawdles, gives it away and they nearly score on the counter.

Guess the most important thing today was not to lose against a team below us, which at least we've done. Certainly think they were there for the taking though.

Good fighting spirit to get a draw but in all honesty those are two very poor teams. Maybe we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was the windy conditions that made them look bad.

A point saved in my opinion.  The wind played a part but we chose not to keep it on the deck.  After the poor pen decision we crumbled and lost our composure. Scrapped it out until Conteh came on and steadied the ship.  Shocking weather, shocking defending, shocking commentary.

Have to say that given the fact that we were 2-0 down at half time, I'm pleased with a point. However, so disappointed that we have not beaten them, FGR were bloody appalling !

We really do have to sort ourselves out defensively.

Well done Town - for coming back against the adversity of the first half. Worth 3 points against FG - that Wilson equaliser.
Current management team unbeaten - with some tricky fixtures - well done

Nod to Shaun & Ben for changing it up and it worked as we came back to get a point. Really frustrating though as FGR looked like if you pressed hard & competed for every ball they’d capitulate.

Whoever comes in and I hope it’s this week needs to fix the defence as I’m not convinced any of them can actually defend at the minute.

Could have gone 16th today with a win.

Must win next week. I don’t care if it’s blowing a hurricane and the ref is blind, no more friggin excuses. Just win for Chris’s sake. If we can’t beat FGR and Sutton we will be playing Scunthorpe next season.

Can't keep conceding 2 or 3 goals a game and expect 3 points with any regularity.

We are scoring goals most games, which is good, and just about keeping our heads above water. Get tighter at the back and we could start moving up the league. 15th spot is only 3 points away, and it's all very tight in the bottom half.

Was hoping for a win, but a point from being 2 down is fair enough, and also denies a team below us 2 points. Results went our way mainly, so not too much harm done.

Glad we didn’t lose and normally I’m all for an away point but forest green were absolutely abysmal and we mad them look ok by not closing down enough . We won’t play a worse team all season and we huffed and puffed again .

I can’t get my head round the meltdown. Horrendous conditions which quite clearly affected the course of the entire game.

Yet again the players have come from behind and positively affected the course of a game. Happy to be proven wrong but we’re absolutely nowhere near trouble based on recent performances.

Why bring on a sub in the 93rd minute? Dont’d understand the logic. Presumably to shore up the defence and/or waste time. It takes time for a defender to settle into the game and that made Amos susceptible to a mistake.

We could have lost all three points with that decision.

I saw some of Notts and Bradford (second half). Notts passing the ball across their box and playing out or trying to. Three or four times they lost possession and let Bradford back into it. It’s a modern fad and I wish they would stop doing it.  Years ago you would get an absolute b..king from the coach for that. The idea is attack the other goal, not mess about at the back. Perhaps they were watching England last night.

Glad we didn’t lose and normally I’m all for an away point but forest green were absolutely abysmal and we mad them look ok by not closing down enough . We won’t play a worse team all season and we huffed and puffed again .

Sutton next week hopefully.

Score reflected the performance, but in the end Cartwright kept us in it. Wilson is a good finisher and we created a few chances, but the number of 10 yrd passes we overhit in attacking positions was ridiculous. Good to know we can come back from behind now so there is always hope. Won't use the D word its almost like swearing.

Dunno what to think about that. Good to see a comeback but FGR could’ve scored 5 easily.

Well done Town - for coming back against the adversity of the first half. Worth 3 points against FG - that Wilson equaliser.
Current management team unbeaten - with some tricky fixtures - well done

Tricky fixtures!!  Two of them against part timers 2 leagues below us!

Commentary said 150 hardy away fans.

Still work to do, and the pitch won the contest.

Cartwright made some brilliant saves on several occasions.

How many times did Glennon's crosses skid across the 6 yard box?

Conteh and Wilson certainly improved ghe 2nd half performance.

Andrews is fast becoming a midfield enforcer - lost count of him winning tackles or intercepting their through balls. Ran at them as well after getting the ball, putting pressure on their players.

Fresh legs were a big factor in getting back in a game that could easily have ended 5 - 5 with better finishing by BOTH sides !

If the wind direction doesn’t change (ok no Eisa) and we bring Wilson on - Pearson gives them a half time blast - Town can still win this

Good move 😀🤙

I would say that there is an irony in you calling him a dimwit in the light of your post.
