(Big if) PH gets the axe then who should be caretaker? I assume Doig as Deputy will go as well but what about the other coaching staff? Pearson perhaps would get the nod over Dave Moore? DM would of course never be a serious contender. Anyone else though could potentially end up with the job if fortune shines on their caretaker spell.

I would expect Ben Davies to take the reigns unless the hierarchy believe he’s also part of the problem.

If they're going to sack him they should have a replacement lined up to immediately take over

So would I.

Interesting that when Hurst doesn't do press duty, it's never Doig who stands in.

That excludes anyone in another job though. It means you can only consider the out of work or one of the existing staff at the club.

We've had 16 league matches under caretaker managers in League Two since 2004 when we were relegated out of the Division Two and the leagues were renamed.

We've only won 1 of those games. And that was Lindrick's final match when Holloway has already been announced and was at the ground watching on.

So if Hurst is sacked we could do with moving quickly as having as few games under a caretaker as possible.

Not sure that's true? Just means we don't sack him until the chosen replacement is ready to join. Not sure there's much to gain in sacking Hurst sooner and having Moore or Davies manage the team for a few weeks - probably just causes more chaos

Davies would be caretaker, probably flanked by Pearson and Woods in the interim.

Why Woods, he might be ok running a youth team but one of the worst managers in the club's history.

Because we're a small club and you lean on anyone with any sort of experience in that sort of scenario. He's probably the most experienced member of staff barring Dave at the club.

I think it’s wasted breath even planning for a caretaker, I can’t see the owners taking decisive action on Hurst for many weeks

Correct me if I am wrong but has Doig been seen on video since his last day when he famously knew nothing. ?

I'd say that's more down to the caretaker inheriting a pile of excrement than anything else.

Limbrick did a lot of the rebuilding work that gave a good foundation for Holloway. Most of the other instances were one or two games a time with a side in shocking form and low on confidence.

Well he has the experience of taking a club out of the football league.
