Knew him well when he played for Lincoln and lived in Washingborough, really nice bloke. When he was Assistant Manager at Town we played a GTFC team over here at Ruston Bucyrus and I had the pleasure of marking Kevin Drinkell just before he left for Norwich and suffice to say it was a tough night. Afterwards Grotier invited me over for the home match against Leeds. Think it was 1984 when Steve Foley arrived as replacement for super Joe Waters and think we lost 2-0 with Frank Worthington playing up front for them.

We were blessed with having Batchy at the club at the same time Grotier was here. He didn't play that many games for us as Batchy was a fixture in the team most games.

I do remember one game though towards the end of a season when Batchy was injured and Grotier played in goal. It was home to Brighton and we were winning 2-1 with about 5 minutes left but ended up losing it 4-2!!

That's right Les and to this day the worst individual performance I have ever had the misfortune to witness from any Town player.

It’s funny isn’t it how differing opinions can be, because Grotier was a superb keeper for The Imps, and made the Div 4 team of the year when City won the title under Taylor in 75/76.

Peter also played in the top flight for West Ham remember, making 50 apps, before Imps fans helped raise the £20k transfer fee.

Yes but thus was a one off game Grotier never really played for Town Kev and it showed. He was beaten by two shots he couldn't get down to that Batch would have saved dith ease

According to wiki (yes, I know not the most reliable source) he was here between 1982 and 1986 and made 10 appearances.

I may be wrong but weren't we 2 0 up with 15 minutes left? I was fuming at the end of that game!

Possibly, I know for sure we were winning 2-1 with 5 minutes left though and it could have been 5 as they missed a sitter too.

They had an outside chance of promotion and went for it. Might have been two nil with ten minutes to go.

Do you remember Fulham at home that season? Two nil up in ten minutes and lost four two. We were lucky it wasn't much more. Still, we won at Everton a few minutes later.

Yeah, but footballer’s then were a lot tougher.
Now they struggle to play two games a week !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'
