Not expecting much from England. Think Borthwick is very limited as a head coach. Did well in turning Leicester round but the English Prem is not a good standard compared to the international game and he just got Leicester doing the basics well. That’s not enough at international level.

I’m no rugby expert but how can Curry’s attempted tackle be a red but Santi Carreras‘ premeditated-Toni-Schumacher hip/elbow to the shoulder only be a yellow?

This card referral officer is a dreadful invention.

A good half for England despite playing all of it a man light a good battling performance with some excellent drop kicks from Ford to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

I've managed to secure tickets for England V Japan and England V Samoa so hopefully we are in a good position in out group by then

Well that was a pleasant and unexpected outcome. Early red card so back to good old Leicester basics - with an absolute masterclass from Ford. Los Pumas were very poor mind.

Well played by England. I turned it on after five minutes or so and saw there was a red card against and expected to watch a drubbing, but the Argies imploded after we kept our heads and Ford knocked over those drop goals. A ridiculous result, really, but it would be nice if we could keep a full complement on the pitch...

Shame about the performance! We are so far behind the big boys it’s scary.
Fiji’s physicality, counter rucking and turnover is outstanding.

England are rubbish, but they should still reach the Semi's tbh - doubt they'll get any further than that.  They've got all the players do do something but the coaching and selection is dreadful.

uruguay/portugal etc really stepping up this time around, and there's talks of expanding it which would be a good move as then you get 4 team groups with no bye weeks and the tier2/3 nations will have genuine chances to record world cup wins.

Plenty of tasty games to come before we even get to the knockout stages!

HT  England 31-0 Chile

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Ireland v Boks was absolutely brutal, an utterly compelling low-scoring game and incredible noise from the crowd. At that level I prefer it to international football.

Steward was faultless for 75 mins.

One poor kick. One poor jump.

Fine effort

As soon as they made the changes and started to destroy our scrum, we were cooked. They had a Plan B and Plan C and we didn't have the players on the bench to adapt. Great effort, of course, but ultimately not quite good enough. Even if we had sneaked through to the final, I suspect it would have been like the last World Cup where we couldn't raise our game enough twice in a row.

Yep two fine efforts today; at the start of the day, I was expecting a humping for Town and England (rugby), I wasn't expecting that absolute trashing for the cricketers mind.

Dan Cole was magnificent, scrummaging with his brain when he took that little step back so the Bok loosehead went down when they were in our 22. That one mistake by the Norfolk lad is going to haunt him, but it still needed the (almost inevitable) scrum pen as his ex-Leicester colleague goes down on one knee, and then his current club colleague nails the long kick.

Great news that the next tournament is expanding to 24 teams & 6 groups of 4. The format this year with the group stage taking over a month was ridiculous.

Next time the group stage will be over in around 18 days, the tournament will be a week shorter and they’ll be an extra round of knock-out Rugby- maybe even Ireland could win their first ever knock-out match at a RWC with having a Round of 16?

Dont mind watching the rugby world cup . Thing is having played the game for my school its a tough old sport and certainly more physical than football. Helps to get on the weights as well when your playing and put some bulk on 💪.
