Home tickets selling well with only the osmond B block having any grouped seats together.
AFC Wimbledon have sold just less than 500 which makes me question why we couldn't have put them in the corner? Still a few days left but I'll be surprised if they sell many more tickets (unless they're allowed to pay on the day which I'm unaware of)

You’ve inadvertently answered your own question there.

Block A & B have a combined capacity of 519 seats.

AFC Wimbledon are nearly at that point with 3 days of sales remaining and will bring more than total amount on Saturday.

We can’t restrict them to below 10% of total ground capacity and whilst it might be frustrating if there are 300-400 empty seats in the away section when all home areas are sold out, those are the rules.

Fair point I guess..
I assume we share the Main stand facilities and don't have our own toilets in the corner

Blocks D&E appear to have a combined capacity of 922. I believe part of Block C can be opened up if necessary (to whichever club is not in the corner) to make a total possible capacity of 1,150 when segregation is in place.

This is the very reason i don't see why we can't put seats in that cage corner , not that difficult surely - we are using that section for the bigger games so it would not even need segregation , there must be some sort of reason its out of use ?

Putting the 85 seats in the Pontoon and filling in that corner seem the most logical way to increase the capacity short term without faffing around with temp seating or the layout, it may only yield 300 seats more but its 300 more fans in for the bigger games when demand will outstrip supply .

Back in 1995 the club didn’t just bolt seats into the existing stands. All 3 stands that were converted had the standing terracing demolished and new terracing put in place more suitable for seating.

The cage area wasn’t touched. It contains the last remnants of the old pre-1995 terracing at BP. It’s unsuitable for putting seats in and is lower than the new terracing in the Osmond.

It’s a non-starter.

Based on your previous comment that Blocks D and E contain 922 seats, adding another 300 seats would mean (depending what capacity figure you use) that blocks D and E no longer meet the 10% requirement.

No. 922 is more than 10% of BP capacity.

The reason I counted only D & E is that they are the only 2 blocks open for Salford.

The reality is…

Blocks A & B = 519
Blocks C (part), D & E = 1,100 approx.

Fair .

Is there no way it can be converted though ?

It seems an obvious waste of space , in an already limited area .

What would your thoughts be Golly on Blundell Park redevelopment if we are to stay long term ?

Sounds somewhat daft, but couldn’t a food outlet (or similar) go there as a temporary measure 🤷🏻‍♂️

So we’ve adapted our away allocation to accommodate more home fans, which is great (although town fans have moaned about other clubs doing this) and we’re still none the wiser about capacity.

There doesn’t seem to be a study of how many aren’t able to get a ticket, we don’t know how many are stay away because they don’t like BP, the cage is a non starter (we all know this) and in reality, only a handful of teams will bring anything like a good away following…oh, and the pontoon has a new roof.

Clear as mud…

Have you seen the state of that cage corner recently? It’s not big at all, you’d struggle to get 100 seats in, and looks like it’s not been touched since 1895, never mind 1995.

My understanding with the cage is that it was to be used for a new police and PA box, which would free up extra space between the Pontoon and Main Stand.

Smart move as the cage is largely unusable for seating and it creates scope to expand.

I think we should move the away dugout to the cage, really maximise home advantage.

We should take the lead from the proud footballing nation of Poland and round up all visiting away fans at Blundell Park into cages:

Doing so would be good and funny imho (until they start putting our away fans into cages at their grounds in retaliation)

The club should have put the control room in that Osmond corner right from the start.

I've been looking at YouTube videos, tryng to work out when the control room was built.  It wasn't there for the Arsenal FA Cup game in January 1986, but had been constructed by the time we played Hull in 1987.

Wouldn't be much use as police box, they wouldnt be able to see the Upper Findus

The corner cage is full of 25 years of whatever has blown in there and it's weight is counter  balancing the rest of the Main Stand stopping it falling down.

It would seem that the Control Box has the best seats in ground if they can view everywhere. I wonder how much those seats cost?

Wonder if they could move the scoreboard to that corner. It would easier to see it there and free up some space in the Constitutional corner.

Hopefully yes.  It will mean we are close to capacity, which surely is a good thing.

Salford is in august and our second home game I think. Fancied opposition and an attractive game.  It’ll be close to sold out.

We get the  larger 1200 of the away end for every game apart from Mansfield and Wombles  + 1000 left in the home end - ST holders = 2200.

It’s not allegedly.  It’s a fact.  Then the club announce a crowd of 7200 then claim we don’t need to expand !!
I don’t think for one second the solution is as easy as some would think.  But ignoring the problem doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It most certainly is.
And yes, if the same situation arose at other clubs it would be brought up on forums.  Contrary to some beliefs, Town fans on the whole are no different as a group to other supporters.  Up there in the ratings of most passionate.  But when someone says ‘only Grimsby fans’ etc they are normally talking bollox.

I suppose you can flip it both ways , will we sell out against the powerhouses of Crawley, Salford, Colchester and Barrow on a Tuesday night ? Which have all fallen before Xmas ?

But if the home fixtures had been reversed and we had 9 of the bigger teams who would want the full away end as the first 9 games would we need more seats , we all know the answer is yes - 4 of those minimum could fill the full away end  and more probably .

The can is effectively kicked down the road for 6 months , but you would hope there is a contingency plan for after Xmas if we are doing well because it would turn into a scramble for tickets and a bit of a mess as there is no way Bradford,Notts,Doncaster and Wrexham are letting us have the larger section of the away end and I doubt Swindon,Tranmere,Walsall and Stockport would either.

Walsall I don’t think would bring 500+ and Swindon/tranmere would probably be borderline. Obviously all depends on how the respective teams are performing in the league I guess.

Bradford/Donny/notts county could well fill the whole end and Stockport/Wrexham/Mansfield wouldn’t be far off it.

Current forecast temperature for 15 August is 24c so home sell out then.

Around 60 tickets left for Saturday. The Luddites will be praying there is one left.

They will all go no doubt , I'm not disagreeing with you in terms of needing an increase in capacity btw it's just those Tuesday night games are always a hard sell- I would be interested in the highest /lowest Tuesday night attendances last season.

We only had two Tuesday home League games before March last year when we were in dead rubber terroritry so not much evidence to go on .

But the forest game is an anomaly surely? Premier league opposition not 4th tier and localish to boot. Even if it had been another 4th tier team you’d have to discredit it due to it not being a league game

I'd take a stab at somewhere between 1986 and 1987.

Well, duh.  I wanted a more specific time.  I guess work on the control room began in the summer of 86.  I mentioned those two games because I thought there might be others here wondering the same thing.

This is what I love about the Fishy: it's frequented by a lot of intelligent, mature adults.

If I read that quote out of context I’d have assumed you were talking about a dating site for elderly academics with genital odour problems.
