First the bad news, I will NOT be running Beat The Clock so if somebody wishes to take it on please do so. However, I will incorporate the time of the first goal in the prediction thread.
The good news is that Mrs DB will be sponsoring the prediction thread as per last year to the tune of £100. 1st £50, 2nd £30 and 3rd £20, anybody drawing will share the prize money.

I have tried out a new format for last season's Cup games and also the Preseason Predictions and will stick to that, with the aim of giving more points so the leadership can change. You do not have to make all the predictions each week, the choice is yours and if nobody takes up Beat the Clock then those who wish to predict a time of the first goal can do so on here.

The predictions will be as follows:-

1 Point for win/lose/draw. ( W.L.D )  You will have to put W/L/D; the reason being you may not get the right result but can get a point for this prediction.
5 Points for the correct score
5 points or 3 points for nearest if not predicted correctly Time of 1st goal scored by either side. If you think it's nil nil then predict 0. Any goals scored in extra time of both halves will be deemed to be 45 mins and 90 mins respectively.
5 points for the first Town scorer and 3 points for the other scorers. If your prediction of 1st scorer does score, but not the 1st goal you only get 3 points.
5 points for the Home gate or 3 points for the nearest if not predicted.
5 points for the Away gate or 3 points for the nearest if not predicted

Please do not predict large Town scores each week to try for scorer points. If you do I will send you a PM and if you ignore it I will deduct 20 point. I want the competition to be fair to all. I'm not saying we will not beat Crawley 4 - 1 but beating Wrexham by the same score is very unlikely.

For the results table I will use the same as last, please be patient with it as it takes at least 1 minute to load. The reason probably is that we had 125 who scored points last year so it takes time to load.

This prediction thread is open to all 6,000+ Fishy Members and you can take part whenever you like, every game, weekly, monthly or when you like; there is NO cutoff time for you to join or stop. The choice is yours.


I will start the Wimbledon thread on Thursday. If you need further help with the above please send me a PM.

Or here’s a thought, if someone names four or more different scorers each week, minus one point for each non scorer. To dis-courage spread betting as it were?

I am generally a fan of less rules rather than more, I think DB has it right, if someone wants to try and game the sytem in what is just a bit of fun that demands a lot of work from DB, then I willingly delegate my drunk-off-quotient to him so that he can decide when someone is taking the urine. Your solution, though it has a certain inventiveness and elegance, in the end just complicates what is a best solved simply. Or maybe you were just kidding?

Well done for doing this again DB and Mrs DB for her very generous donation, bless her..

How about name 3 possible Town goal scorers?

As now If one scores the first goal, award 5 points and 3 for any other.


Supporting Town for 65 years.
