Has anyone considered that Luke Armstrong and many other players for that matters might have a release fee clause inserted into their contract?

Don’t assume the owner holds all the power. The truth is they rarely do unless it’s Harry Kane and you use your useless brother as your agent.

Luke Armstrong was getting attention before he signed his latest contract. I’d be amazed if he signed for 3 years without having a cast iron escape route put into the contract. And it will be a realistic fee for a L1 or L2 club to pay, so a £100,000 release fee activating 12 months after the contract was signed seems plausible.

I would imagine Luke Armstrong would have serious interest from league 1 clubs, we've got more chance of signing Louis Armstrong!

Dubious.

Other clubs paying higher wages than us will be in for him if he's got a low-price release clause.

(You can be certain his agent will broadcast the fact.)

You could be onto something actually - In 1951, "Gone Fishin'" was recorded by Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong - the signs were there all along!
