I love this new shirt, it should have been the shirt for this season when all them Green Town signs went up around town before the sponsorship announcement.

My only criticism is that a one-off shirt isn't sustainable, and this shirt is to promote sustainability.

It looks fantastic though and a proper throw back to the 90's!

I think MyEnergi probably wanted their name to feature prominently for the money they put in. Love the shirt and the video and would be great to see more of this sort of thing. Great to way to pursue more investment.

Presumably, this is what the board mean about any further investment being a "good fit" in that they are looking for companies with the same ethos and green credentials.

Currently, the only thing green about Blundell Park is the grass so they have their work cut out.

Are there enough green companies/investors out there who would be willing to put money into GTFC? It would be good to think there is, and that they could get involved in rebuilding the stadium in their image but it seems this is certainly the road we are going down - promoting the club and the town as the centre of the new renewable revolution.

Could have gone on the player budget 🙄

Wonder if these may be passed to the trust for auctioning off later for youth academy or disabled supporters trust ?

Dunno what's happening but I'm agreeing with more n more of your posts lately
As and when we get B Corp I think it may similarly open up sponsorship n partnering opportunities from firms who wouldn't normally consider working with a football team

I don't think they mean only green companies more that they'll look for those with similar values about the B-Corp stuff. Luton have made a big thing of not accepting gambling money etc I think. I think they will try to cultivate a 'Green Town' reputation though which could be quite powerful in building an identity and attracting investment.

Being a seafaring town we would surely never wear Green, it’s an unlucky colour that no mariner would ever wear.

This was covered quite a bit last summer when Myenergi were announced as main sponsor. The view of the club, or at least the owners, is that we need to respectfully move on from our fishing heritage and look to the future, which appears to be green energy.

In terms of the kit, it’s been very softly phased in. The green on the Myenergi logo of the home kit, the green accents on the away kit and the mint green training attire. Expect to see a green kit of some sort as part of our 23/24 ensemble.

On a related note I understand there are plans to change the club nickname from ‘The Mariners’ to ‘The Turbiners’ (a “turbiner” being the colloquial name for a wind turbine technician). It was one of a handful of options but was chosen so it still scans with all the old songs. Won’t be introduced until 2025 at the earliest, though.

Surely no one would ever accept that. I think it’d have the same response as what happened at Cardiff City when their owner changed their home shirt colour to red.

It’ll be fine in time. Remember the furore over the flag on the badge? Anyhow, Sunderland fans got over it when they changed their name to the “black cats”.

There’s a proper adoption plan being drawn up. The club have lined up Les Johnson and Tony Bradsell from Pisces to record a new version of their famous 70s song.

“Up the Turbiners, up the Turbiners, we’re gonna win the cup one day…”.

Give it a couple of weeks and it’ll be like you’ve never known any different.

Didn’t the conversation about a green shirt also put to bed the myth that we’ve never had s green kit when someone mentioned we’d had several Keeper kits that were effectively green.

It’ll happen, I think the green thing may be a long lost fishing heritage thing but it’s not as big a deal for town as is often made out.

As for the green this year; the green isn’t the issue in the blue kit, more the fact it’s flipping atrocious…

I think this 'limited edition' line is a bit of a marketing ploy to generate some FOMO and boost sales, as the concept of 'limited edition' goes against what sustainability stands for.

I think this will be next seasons shirt. I really hope it is too because I love it.

It’s a good idea as there will be plenty of companies ( green or not ) wanting to get involved in some kind of green initiative.

Let me honest nearly every statement made by any company these days has to have the word sustainability and diverse mentioned in it.

The club now needs to be knocking on the door of every company in the local area involved in renewables and getting them onboard.

Like it or not our two local MPs seem to have good contacts with the upper echelons of the current government so maybe the Town and the club could be into something if supported
