Watch out…….just found out A1 Southbound is closed on Saturday J17 near Peterborough….see below.
I’m going M1 as not sure how long the diversion takes?

A1 Wansford to junction 17 (Peterborough): safety barrier upgrade and other maintenance

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1 southbound between Wansford and junction 17 and divert traffic as detailed below:

A1 southbound closure between Wansford and junction 17 (Peterborough) – Saturday 18 March, 6am to Monday 20 March, 6am.

Whilst the A1 is closed, southbound traffic will be diverted from the A1 at Wansford and directed to follow the A47, A1260 Nene Parkway and A1139 Fletton Parkway, before re-joining the A1(M) southbound at junction 17, Fletton Parkway Interchange.

Good spot.
If travelling from GY probably take the Louth/Horncastle/Spalding route.

It’s doable but I’m off straight down the M1 for the extra ten minutes it’ll take and my nerves will be atrocious so I’m gonna need to utilise toilet facilities several times…

M1 definitely the best/easier route. Spalding way you probably lose all the time potentially gained behind tractors/lorries anyway

I go down the A16 and A153 and back four days a week to go to work and I can’t believe that anyone would choose to use that route for a journey in their free time.

Maybe they heard about the massive migration from Grimsby to Brighton and decided to postpone it for a week!

It's only  short diversion off A1, will only add 10min to journey.
