Ahhhh Ceefax.  Spent many an evening with a group of friends, we picked (I think) 10 teams each, and the time of the first goalscorer in each match was your score - lowest score won.

The japes we had waiting for each page to load to see the scores


First game: 7/5/88 Aldershot (h) 1-1 (R)

Ceefax was mega…the anticipation of waiting for the page to turn.

I remember bullying the bar staff in our uni bar to stick Ceefax on…they wouldn’t pay for sky sports for ages so Ceefax was all we had for European games or those midweek games when my student loan wouldn’t stretch to an away game at god knows where.

So many complaints were made about us…

I remember the good old days at BP when the half time scores were read out and there would be a pause as the previous PA guy waited for the page to change on Ceefax,
