Absolutely turgid stuff that does nothing but harm test cricket.
Same in the Pakistan v Australia series too.

A balancing act though Sandford. We had a stage when there were a lot of 3 day tests.

Which were also harmful to test cricket. It should not be that difficult to produce pitches which offer said balance and a contest between bat and ball.
I’d wager if stiff and financial penalties were a threat that pitches would be more like they need to be.
The cynic in me thinks that these dead pitches mean grounds fuller for longer and therefore increased revenue.

I think this already now constitutes 'a chance', so I was hasty earlier.

Thought they'd go for too many runs/too few overs, and they arguably did, but it may yet not matter.

Our attack is weak, but Holder-Da Silva-Joseph at 6-7-8 isn't pretty.

4 wickets down now. Plenty of overs left to play...

5 wickets in 20 overs....a tough ask. We should have had a few overs at them before lunch.

Yeah, looks like a draw now. Needed to get a couple of quick ones after the 5th to put some real pressure on.

I don’t like cricket…😊

Test Cricket is King! Long live the King!

Mind you our ‘batsmen’ make loving it bloody hard at times. Embarrassing lack of application and testicular fortitude.

Brilliant from Leachy and Mahmood.

Tomorrow ought to be Root's last day as Captain.

He's a brilliant batsman so let him get on with that job and try to find somebody else to run the team on the field.

I thought it odd he was allowed to continue considering we we’re having a ‘red ball reset’ and he himself said judge his captaincy after the Australian debacle.
He’s stayed on purely through lack of an alternative hasn’t he but that’s far from ideal. We absolutely need Root the batsman but his ‘captaincy’ is definitely something we don’t.
Get the new coach in ASAP and let’s have a new captain while we are at it.
