Worst possible start!!
Anybody else stayed up to watch it?
Anderson & Broad both left out.

Entirely predictable especially with the lack of preparation.
Brave selections too.  

I feared a drubbing and it looks like my fears are being realised.  

Whenever you think the Aussies are down and out, that's when they are their most dangerous.

I fear a whitewash because the England Test team has the backbone of a jellyfish.

I turned off after the first ball. What with Town getting d1cked every week, I can't bear the misery.

Everything that could have gone wrong has done. 147 after electing to bat is pathetic regardless of how good the Aussie attack is (and they are very, very good).
You cannot go into a test series so undercooked but it’s like the batsmen didn’t know the conditions which were/are very characteristic for this ground.

Just when you think it’s safe to watch our attack bowl in favourable conditions the heavens open. It’s going to be a long series.

Root is a class batsman; one of the best we've ever had, but as a captain, he is found wanting.

Poor selections and choosing to bat first was just asking for trouble and putting the team under pressure from the off. We hardly ever win at Brisbane, which is why it is always the first test match venue.

We should have bowled and got ourselves into the game in the field as the tone of the series is usually set in the first match.

We are now massively on the back foot and if we don't take quick wickets, we will be one down and in more disarray.

Poor all round, but what I've come to expect from this team. Rory Burns has been out for a duck 6 times this year and we send him out to get us off to a good start in Australia FFS.  

On for an impressive 10 test defeats out the last 11 in Australia.

Earlier start tonight 11.30pm, hope are bowlers are up for it!
Still think it was an awful decision to bat first especially when this wicket is renowned for being better for batsman on days two & three! Could be a long haul!

Im pinning my hopes on Robinson nipping a few out cheaply. The right nagging length and his height will make him a real handful.

Robinson has bowled well so far and Wood has bowled quickly but a little short. Nothing going England’s way with Stokes bowling Warner off a no ball. I think Broad to the left handers on this pitch would have caused a lot of problems.

Getting no luck whatsoever. Aussies could have been 3 or 4 down, but...
