When Emily Davison jumped in front of a horse (and died as a result) in furtherment of the suffragette movement and women's right to vote, I'm guessing you'd have been there moaning about that silly cow ruining the horse race.

I can well imagine that in 50 years time it will be the pubic who stood by taking the urine out of the "morons"  will be the people who will be judged by history as being the real morons.

Whilst I can see this from both sides, Emily Davison didn't jump in front of a horse drawn ambulance and prevent a patient being taken to hospital did she.

Perhaps for the non football thread, but peaceful protest just doesn’t work, the media do not report it. There is real concern about what we are doing to the planet, at the moment all politicians are big on talk, taking donations from big energy companies and kicking the problem down the road.
Nothing has been given to the ordinary people of this country without a fight against the establishment who fear losing a few pennies of influence, people so worried about the future they are prepared to sacrifice their liberty for no personal gain are mostly looked on favourably on hindsight

Another tremendous take up of our away alloted allowance.

A sunnier day, and a high volume vocal support will be appreciated by the players and sounds brilliant on the radio commentary, which I will be glued to this afternoon.

I'll be listening in while loading my band gear into the van prior to a 40th birthday gig, so hopefully entertaining the neighbours with my headphones on, shouting "Get in !!" when we score.

A good win and a good gig would make for a perfect day !¹

Not everything is about culture wars. The people whose houses and businesses that are already being severely affected, are not all white middle class wokes, and neither are others who are concerned that the government is paying lip service to the issue.

Sorry, For making this thread political, I won’t say anything more on the subject. I was just annoyed by the characterisation that people standing up for the right things are deemed morons.

Getting back on track, I think today is our biggest test of the season so far, albeit a very different challenge to Bromley on their plastic pitch in torrential rain. For a change, the weather looks to be a pleasant day for football.

I understand they’ve invested heavily this season and their last three hugely impressive results, beating Chesterfield, Notts County and Dagenham in succession (scoring 8 goals in the process), only reflects that. I think their PPG record would probably be even better than it is had their early season not been disrupted by Covid.

In Tahvon Campbell, they’ve got the division’s in form forward in terms of goals, having scored 6 in 4 / 8 in 6. A big test for young Ryan Sears today if he sits wide on the left wanting to cut in.

Max Kretzschmar in midfield who got their winner in mid-week has also got a goal in him. They’ve also got Rohan Ince who’s played over 50 games in the Championship for the likes of Brighton and Fulham - they’re absolutely no mugs this lot.

That said, neither are we; we’re top for a reason and some of the football we played at Altrincham on Tuesday was breathtaking. The incentive is certainly there this afternoon; Boreham Wood play the Daggers today so there’s some guaranteed dropped points there and an opportunity to put some distance between ourselves and some of those around us. Chesterfield and Notts County are both away too, and Wrexham (who I still don’t think you can ignore) don’t have a game so a win would take us 13 points clear of them.

Make no mistake, Woking are one of the best sides at this level and will finish top 5 (minimum) in my opinion. A win would be a real statement of intent by us and put us in a great place going into the FA Cup hiatus, but I would take a point right now to cement our place as top dogs for at least another couple of weeks.

I just watched their highlights against Daggenham and noticed a few things. Their no 6 is a mountain of a man, but doesn't seem very coordinated, fast or able to get his head on the ball. Their defence didn't look organised to me, desperate at times and yes, they do know how to pack their own area. Their penalty shout looked very lucky to me, D+R guy looked to have kicked himself and not the Woking player. D+R were very unlucky not to have scored and their penalty shout looked like a good one to me. Both teams looked very comfortable with playing a very physical game. I reckon today will be a very physical game but we will outplay them if we are on form. I can't wait to see who skins their no 6, but someone will. Very excited to see the line up today. UTM
