I used to work in a business buying services and there were a number of well performing owner-managed businesses that successively got purchased by a large brand, and promptly the quality went down. It seemed to happen in one particular sector when they got to around £20m turnover, so I started predicting which would get snapped up next. Through the door there came familiar laughter, I saw your face and heard you call my name. Oh my friend we're older but no wiser, For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
