Good luck to the lad. Let’s hope it’s the start of giving some of the younger lads some first team opportunities.

I would like to see Ira get a run of game to the end of the season just to look at if he would be any use to us in the National  league

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Well, there's no Morais or Williams. Scannell was going to be involved but is then injured in training. Wright still out as is Mizouni, so we're not exactly inundated with options are we?

Tough game to make your debut, but good luck to the lad.

I have heard only good things about the lad.

Good luck today Evan and to the team we really need a win.

Well at least I saw us win at Bolton 2-1 but thought that was in the 80''s.

That game in 2000 had a weird atmosphere. As many away fans as will be there today due to the fuel protests. Michael Ricketts should’ve been sent off for a blatant off the ball elbow but wasn’t.

Anyway, I digress. We’re winning today and we’re staying up, I’ve decided.

Did you know that today's match thread sponsors are currently doing the exact same thing with Sheffield Ski Village as they did with Town's new stadium? I.e. loads of impressive sounding promises and fancy renders in the press, while utterly failing to stick to previously mentioned timescales and no sign of any building work actually kicking off. About as likely to happen as a Peaks Parkway stadium if you ask me.

Anyway back to the football, 5-0 town, Khouri hat-trick let's have it

Michael Ricketts had one game for England I think.  From memory anyway.  Must have been that goal he scored at BP that swung it.

Got a feeling it will be a bad day for us
Bolton are on a real roll
Colchester v Walsall - latter very little to play for

The fifth nail hammered home, I feel...

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Good combo on our right-hand side with Henry and Clifton working well together.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Good game to watch. Hanson has improved as the game has gone on, both him and LJL missed good chances though. Winning at half time so thats good, wish Exeter were winnig.

My Ifollow also went down with 1 min to go but I refereshed it and it started ok

Excellent first half. We in no way look like a bottom of the table side. Oh for an early Town goal in the second half, instead of protecting what we have and waiting for the inevitable...

Got to hand it to their keeper there that was 4 fantastic saves

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Clifton needs to get that on target too - 14-15 yards out and he's clearing the crossbar. So many wasted chances today

Podge would be no use to us.  He can’t score in NL.  (To mangle a previous - wrong - statement made).

How the hell did Hanson miss that?  He's had a good game but could have had at least two goals.

Macca macca macca

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Another good save by Macca.

Good save from LJL there - the one time we finally get a decent effort on target their keeper pops up and keeps it out

How many chances to LJL need to score, he's had more chances this game than all the time he's been here. He might hold the ball up but he and attacker, paid to score

No but the point I’m making is that LJL isn’t the only one missing chances, DB as ever you’re in your echo chamber again today clearly.

Well apparently you are after attributing an earlier missed chance by Matete to LJL, and seem to have imagined loads of other bad misses from the guy when it's clear to anyone watching that Hanson's been far the more complacent of the two today. The only 'miss' I can recall from LJL today was one where he smashed a good shot on target and produced a strong save. His hold up play today has been brilliant too.

Joke decision from the ref, Clifton wins the ball then the Bolton player flings himself over and wins a free-kick.

7 shots on target, that's what we normally have in a month

MOTM?  Hard to pick.  Macca for his saves.  Coke always in position.  Matete for the goal?  Both CD for composure and work rate?  Clifton for running himself into the ground.  Can't fault one of em.  Well done lads!

Got worried when that late goal went in, but they've seen it out well done lads.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Every player played well, loved the way we won all the 50/50s and created more chances than I think we’ve done for a very long time.

Well done boys!!!

There is now way this team plus subs would be in trouble had we started with it
They were brilliant
Clifton MOM for me
Not the most gifted but the heartbeat of this team
Gives so much every game

Coke out on his feet - literally
Great pro

Mayenese - brilliant...hope we can sign him up

Hanson and Lenny - superb apart from where to matters!

But Christ we make it sooooo hard for ourselves

It is still on - we just keep going...

Quite a few players had their best game of the season. Hard to pick one - Hanson back to what he was last season and a shout out for Habergham, who I thought was excellent.

Brilliant effort by the Mariners against possibly the best side in the division (second half of the season).
Ironic that Town are on a very good run in 24th without accumulating the points possibly deserved to them.

Come on Walsall!

What a great performance but dont get why Hurst took 10 mins longer to make the change as Khouri was flagging and no longer really affecting the game. But we won so maybe I am wrong. Ira has to be the player to use as the first choice attacking sub this season as he has plenty of pace and can pop up anywhere around the box. Clifton my MOM I think or Matete, hmm or the central defenders, or well anyone really UTM

25 shots with 13 on target. I never expected to write that this year.

There is no way this Town team is giving up. Very proud of them all.

What a good match to watch and a brilliant win for Town. All the players gave their all including LJL and Hanson. I thought Clifton put in another solid performance as did Habs and Macca so MOM is hard but I think Matete just gets it for me as he scored. Jacksons' goal was also a good poachers goal and as he had just come on it made it more special. I believe I heard Crofty and JT wonder where he came from as he had just been on the right touchline and scores from the left of the goal.

BBC stats say 9 shots on goal, it's the most we've had in a month. We just need to put more of them away. It's hard to believe we are in the bottom spot on that performance. I hope it gives the team a boost for Tuesday, I know it gave me one and a glimmer of hope that 5 performances like this and we can stay up.

Bloody typical of town, just when I’d accepted relegation, they do something daft like win a game and give me hope again. 🤣🤣🤣

BBC said 28 shots for us.

Extreme Leisure finally delivered.

Does anyone else think that the moral high ground gained from “dismissing” 2 players underpinned the best performance of the season?

Everybody likes to see, correct, decisive action taken from someone in authority when it is right and proper.

Well done all.  We live to fight on.

Not sure what happened to the theory of unconditional praise?

Twenty shots at goal in one match, according to the BBC website! Just so refreshing to get a victory and it gives us some hope, at least for the time being. Bolton are one of the better teams in this division so well done to all, especially after the black clouds of last week. It shows that there is some 'character' in the team. Come on Walsall.
