Team news: Five changes for Town
Paul Hurst rings the changes after Tuesday night, and it looks as though Elliott Hewitt might be moving into the centre of defence as Luke Waterfall drops out, and is replaced by Luke Hendrie.

Elsewhere, Sam Habergham, Giles Coke, Lenell John-Lewis and James Hanson return as Joe Bunney, Danny Rose, Joe Adams and Stefan Payne make way.

TOWN: Eastwood, Hendrie, Hewitt, Menayese, Habergham, Morais, Matete, Coke, El Mizouni, John-Lewis, Hanson.

Subs: McKeown, Waterfall, Bunney, Rose, Adams, Payne, Green.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Looks a decent line up, happy with the defence,a bit more quicker, hoping we turn our luck around and hoping especially the lads go for it, were at home, attack attack.

Lop-sided 4-4-2 by the looks of it. (i.e. Morais offering width & El Mizouni tucking inside more.)

Hurst is getting closer to getting it right, its the lobsided 442 excrement he used to pull in the conference. Lemy looked good when he came on whys he been dropped all together?

Hope Coke does something to impress it would be unfair to judge his first as well less said about that game the better, but it was worrying we only heard his name said twice in that game.

Green wasting space on the bench. Just pay him off already.

I hope Hellmans does something to impress as well, he had a decent game midweek but I'm still on convinced hes any better then what we had.

CAPTAIN SHOP!!!

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

What is it with Lamy ?
Dropping in and out of the squad like a yoyo in the last few games. Had an impact as a sub the other night , not even on the bench today.

It’s a sad indictment of our centre.backs when a right back is preferable to them. But happy with the line up, let’s hope we get a result!

Who'd have thought Giles Coke would make the team. Bizarre.
Is he seen by Hurst as some kind of Derek niven type?

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Got me money on Lamy to score, not even in the squad

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

New partnerships all over the pitch again, back four changes in every position which worries me from an understanding viewpoint , especially with a team like FGR who tend to pass and move the ball around, pull defenders around alot.
Has to change somethings obviously but 5 changes closely on the back of 4 changes....just seems too many too often.

Right front two at least.

No overcomplicating things today. Get the ball to Morais and put some balls into the box for Hanson and LJL.

We're crap but that looked harsh.

It's destiny.  We are playing much better.  Goal against the run of play.  Not a pen.  You can't blame the manager for that.  Ref should look at some of their shirt pulling.

Mark Cooper seems to be reffing the game as usual, horrible piece of sh1t that he is.

Now it’s Whitehouse’s turn.

Garbage from Hanson there, Matete's running in to space and needs him to show for a 1-2, but he's lazily just plodding around next to a defender and isn't making enough effort to get into space to receive the ball.

So flipping frustrating

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Lower league refs are scared of upsetting these rich person boutique teams like FGR and Salford. They'll get pulled around all over and be told what decisions to give.

My plan tonight was to only open a beer when we scored.  I gave into temptation and then we scored.  Can I claim some credit for that goal?  A butterfly flaps its wings etc.

Playing better, and making a comeback against a crap penalty. Shows that heads didn't drop. Great signs.

Town need to press more as we are just allowing them to stroll out with the ball. They however press on us forcing us to launch it

we need to use the injustice of their penalty and the fact we are playing well to our advantage, also we had our bit of luck withe the goal so we need to build on that now, if we can't build on this then we frankly don't deserve to stay up.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

ok well i thought El Mizouni was rubbish but i'd still rather have him on with a pulled hamstring than Bunney running about misplacing passes and being a massive defensive liability

Important to go in level. Not creating much but we look more comfortable with this system and selection.
My concern, particuarly with this ref is Matete's yellow card - he is being influenced far to much by FGR.
Bunney on - I hope for him and Hurst its the right decision.

I’m looking forward to the second half , we’ve just shown the kind of fight in a game that I’d have expected 6-7 games ago .
I’m not sure if we’ll get anything from this but it’s a lot better than the last 4-5 games

All three of us relegation favourites drawing at half-time.

Strange substitution but let's wait and see what happens before being triggered into a meltdown and a witch hunt.

We're playing well and we're well and truly still in this and FGR look like they're there for the taking.

Good half that. Unfortunate with the Pen but hugely fortunate with our goal. Hurst back to his 442 with a central midfielder on the left. Have to say the hysteria about Bunney coming on is funny, he’s played a lot of games as a left winger and Adams is very lightweight, FGR’s best player has been on that right side. Makes sense to me.

Really encouraged by that performance. We have a clear game plan. It's simple but we appear to know how to do it, and with some success. Shop looks like he's linking up pretty well with Hanson. I'm glad that their CB decided to let Hanson score because their pen was iffy AF.

Apart from the ref, who doesn't seem to want the game to flow in any kind of way (perhaps he has an inferiority complex and is wanting to brandish whatever authority he has), El Miz was the most disappointing but maybe he wasn't fully fit?

Bunney has been a liability at the back but he can play in midfield or up front so maybe he'll be better without having to worry so much about defending.

Strange substitution and wish he'd had played El Mouzini more central but i got to admit i'm semi enjoying this game. We aren't creating enough chances or even getting close in the final third but atleast the 1st and 2nd third have improved so far. Need some pace to run at them now.

FGR should be nervous. We have momentum and injustice on our side. They also lost at home to Southend when a win would have put them top.  They struggle under pressure.  No beef.

Just a shame about Bunney.

If we can get an early goal then I can't see FGR getting back into it. I can't see much difference between them and us given the league positions.

It’s crazy isn’t it, the lineup and the tactics that town fans cry out for, we play well, then Hurst brings us back in line by lobbing on another left back.

We need to go for this, it’s there for the taking

Should be winning but for excrement reffing, its been a while since we could say that at half time isn't it.

Captain Shop running round doing his usual Captain Shop things is so refreshing to see up front. Bit of luck for our goal but nice finish by Hanson.

Morais and Metete look great once again. Coke might as well not be on the pitch, he's been mentioned once and that was hoofing a ball he had time to control, stand on and watch all 3 lord of the rings extended movies before playing a controlled pass. I was saying before El Mizouni went off to take him off and bring on Adams.

Defence is looking solid. Habergham having a tough time against Wilson but hes looked quality today so thats not a suprise.

Eastwood is Eastwood, nothing to moan about he's been his usual solid self.

The Bunney sub, while forced just screems negativity. Do you bring on your 4th fullback and make it obvious we're defending our 1-1 draw for the next 45 mins or the attacking winger against a very shaky VGR defence.

Guess we'll have to wait and see if that sub was the right one. Bunney has played in midfield and up front so maybe he'll be more comfortable in an attacking role and less of a liability defensively.

He is quite tall and they seem to be struggling to deal with our tall strikers up front so who knows.

Young player's mistake there, thankfully the ref seemed to give him benefit of the doubt and settled for a chat with him. No reason to kick the ball away, not like they were desperate to take the kick.

Should have a penalty, linesman bottled it. They don't like Hanson at all, they panic every time the ball is in the air near him.

FFS. Can't moan at Eastwood, bounces right in front and then over him. Why we were so slow to close him down I don't know.

Go three at the back three up front now

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Classic example of what’s missing Coke has the ball massive gap to his right where you’d expect Matette to make up the space and he’s nowhere to be seen, I know they’ve hardly played together but we’re in a relegation fight here.

Why do we always wait for the last 10 minutes to even think of subs? There is no reason to as we aren't putting on pressure and we aren't close to scoring.

This was our starting 11 today....

- Loan keeper
- RB who’s on his way in May
- LB who got no minutes in the tank
- Makeshift CB
- CB frightened of his own shadow
- A Non League tier 2 midfielder with no minutes
- A loanee who’s starting to look a luxury
- Loanee on the left rather than the middle another luxury as well
- Talented veteran
- Sick note striker
- In form striker when he was in non league T2.

I know they’ve tried their best but we’re going down as we just don’t have any real quality.

Ah our 4 goal a season striker will make all the difference...

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Come on bloke
Like I say its so frustrating for us all

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Despite it being an improved display in alot of ways we havnt had a single attack up the left, other than the goal i cant recall a shot of note on target and we are still staring at a defeat.....where our rivals are looking like picking up points.

Maybe Mrs Holloway the white witch put a curse on as they left.

Even the next worst team to the 3, Port Vale, just scored twice at Cheltenham to pull it back to 3-2 to Cheltenham.

Straws to clutch at are reducing in number.

We've never been a bigger club tbh, that's what  made it so great when we were going toe to toe with Man City and such. I suppose we might seem big to some team that play in a ditch next to a local park.

When we’ve had the ball they’ve been on us in numbers when they’ve had the ball we’ve given them time & space in reality the performance isn’t any better.

How their keeper had cramp I’ll never know as he’s had a very easy afternoon in reality.

Quoted from Morris Minor
There's one good thing about dropping to the National League.
No i-follow to continue the misery.
At least not on my set-up.

There’s more than that though. You are on telly more, there’s some half decent old football league teams in there and if the consortium take over we can start again from the bottom. ( like Lincoln did)
As my dear old mum said before she passed away,  ‘ son,  when all seems lost, things can only get better, certainly if that tight gonad Fenty fcuks off’’. It was something like that anyway.

How can you be optimistic with a leaky defence, a non-existent mid-field and a forward line that can't score? At least this group showed a bit of effort. UTMM!!

Looks like this is it. In January I expected to be bottom at the end of Feb, but to be showing signs of recovery now. No points in 2 games without looking unlucky.  Think that’s it now. We’re down bar a miracle.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

While the formation and game plan felt better it really feels like the subs were completely wrong. Too late too, it was clear FGR were taking control of the game at 60 minutes and we needed to change things up. Our subs consisted of throwing random strikers who can't score on with 8 minutes to go instead of bringing on a player who can actually create chances.

We might not have deserved to win that but FGR used every bit of gamesmanship in the book and they got away with it.  Crap refereeing.  You could have put a rabbit on instead of bunney it would have created more.  After the first half I had so much hope.

Coke, Bunney, Mizouni, Payne...all gash...I just hope now they get rid of Hurst. His record now stands alone and on his shoulders, go now, put D Moore in temp charge and get ready to reset from top to bottom in the conference next season

Christ, get a grip.

We lost 2-1 against a team in the auto promotion slot.

It’s bad, but as usual the keyboard warriors have woken up.
We will probably go down, but please keep a sense of proportion.

It’s not over till it’s over.

Just end the season now! I can't cope with the hope leading up to a game only to be let down time and time again. Anything that happens from now on is just delaying the inevitable. Goodbye football league, we've not exactly proven ourselves worthy of being anything other than relegation fodder or lower half of the table in the 5 years

I thought the ref had a good game for them. Morais wasn.t brilliant and why did Hurst put Bunney on. Not that Bunney was that bad today. Defender killed us at half time, why didn't he put Adams or Payne on then.

Green, why. He's hasn't done any good the last time he played. Today was better than the last 3 but no points and Barrow won. Hurst has to and Quick

We are far to quiet as far as the officials are concerned.
We need to be a lot more shoutie

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Agree. How anyone can accuse Hurst of being "negative" I don't know. He came out with the 4-4-2 many were clamouring for, ended the match with three out-and-out strikers on the pitch, plus another who has played a good portion of his career up front. We were beaten by a very good team - their second goal was genuine quality.

What the intercourse are players like Danny Rose playing at? Won promotion out this league last year and can't displace two kids who have done next to nowt since arriving on loan. Forgive me for directing my ire towards a player that hasn't played but it's just indicative of the absolute omnishambles that we are.

Need wins, gamble, go for it.  Use Lamy and Wright (when fit - well if).  2 big strikers, get it wide.  Cross. Use 4 or 5 subs.  At least give the opposition something different to not think about.

Hope for the best.  Clifton (when fit) in as he is limited but works hard.

We are scaping the barrel but at least we have a barrel to scrape.

Of all people, how have you picked Rose to dig at, who has been very good lately?

Look at the man not playing him, who put 2 left backs on the pitch when we looked to be on top.

Just seen the goals again.    Looked to me that Matt hit the floor.   Hard to tell because i couldn't slow it down.  In any case has to be a foul on Eastwood. Second goal was offside. Was he interfering with play?  He's 4 yards from the keeper. In my opinion that has to be interfering.

Hardly made himself undroppable. I'm thinking Scannell, Williams, Green, Waterfall too, not just Rose. Rose was just the example.

Bunney has played left wing plenty.

I wanted 442 and thought it worked well in the first half.
Then he brings on bunny not Adams.
Goes three up front at the death.
We were stagnant in the second half but Hurst did nothing to try and change that.

For me - don’t understand why Adams disappeared to bench after his success against Crawley.
If he’s injured - then maybe mind games to opposition having him as a sub
Otherwise - no brainer to play him.

You must have seen a different match to me. Forgot to mention the 12th man the ref. Lucky pen and a half decent shot. Defender comes on for midfieder, Green who hasn't played in 1st team for ages. FGR are where they are but not a colossal difference between them and us.

The main difference between them and us is they have Mark Cooper and we have Hurst. Hurst tactics started good and then lost his head to the fairies. He has to go

Same here why Bunny and not Adams. FGR were pretty sh1ite and without the dodgy ref wouldn't have even scored, but we were absolutely useless 2nd half and it took till 82 mins for Hurst to change anything.
Good points, Matete, the back 4 looked decent as it was, Hanson and LJL better than any of the other strikers we've tried.
Negatives too many again can 't even be @rsed to bother listing them.

I don’t care what Bunney has done elsewhere, of all the horrendous signings this season, Bunney has been the worst. He’s been absolutely excrement, yet Hurst sticks by him.

Just like he stuck by failing players every season last time he was here, it’s almost like it’s a hobby of his.
