No apologies for mentioning this again.

We have a number of very good young players that PL clubs are watching.  Where possible, depending on their age, sell-on clauses can be far more profitable for the original selling club than the transfer fee received.

2 examples this month:

York sold Ben Godfrey to Norwich for £150K.  Everton bought him for a deal up to £30M.  York should receive up to £3M, depending on bonuses etc.

Exeter sold Ollie Watkins to Brentford for £1.8M.  Villa bought him for up to £30M.  Exeter had a 15% sell-on.  They are getting up to a further £4.2M !!  Over £6M.

Both the sell-on income greatly exceeds the original transfer fees. Of course not all players have the potential to develop into top players.

Didn't Exeter get robbed over Empadu who went to Chelsea via tribunal meaning poor transfer fee received and no sell on.  I'm sure I remember Exeter fans kicking off about.

But yes a sell on should always be negotiated.

Was mentioned on Radio 5 yesterday that Dembele is attracting some serious attention from premiership clubs.

Do we know what % we get if Demeble is sold?

Knowing the board we would have negotiated a 1.5% by accident rather than 15% so if he sold for 3mil we only get 45k rather than 450k
