Asked if the only way Town can survive is by not playing, Mr Day replied: “If we haven’t got any crowds, and if we have to test every week, then that would be the case, yes".

How would the EFL deal with it if GTFC refused to play any more games this season.

Yes they could deduct points off us for failing to play a game, and we could end up with a record number of negative points (which would certainly get our name mentioned around the world and appear in many a pub quiz for years to come)

BUT

If the National League are not playing this season then there cant be any relegation from League 2.

What price do you put on the health of your players, not only with C19 but if there are regular matches called off throughout the season, and not just our team calling them off, their fitness will never be fully gained causing more injuries and so it just keeps going round and round.

When it gets to the supposedly end of the season in May and teams still have 10 games to play because they havent physically been able to play matches, will EVERY team have to have points deducted?

Its a logistical nightmare.

The season should never have been started. Hopefully it will be abandoned sooner rather than later.

If there is to be no relegation from Div2 anyway there is no point in even trying to carry on and the longer it goes on and the further teams go down their fixture list the bigger the problem and the arguments (again) when it is curtailed about promotion from 2 to 1 and relegation from 1 to 2.

With regard to coronavirus the players should be doing their bit to try to prevent themselves from catching it like the majority of the rest of us, social distancing etc. With regard to catching it at work then that surely applies to the millions who are currently working.

I don’t think we should be overly critical of getting the league underway.
Clearly there have been mistakes made, but if the second wave had not come along and we had not started we would all be moaning about why we hadn’t started.
Difficult decisions around, not helped by the bully boys of the Premier League.

Having just had a look through our fixtures for this season, it shows that there are two Saturdays and 15 Tuesdays where we dont have a League game.

But those two Saturdays are the weekends of the first and second round of the FA Cup, so that nullifies at least one of them. IF we, or any potential league opponent progress to round 3, then another league match will have to be reorganised.

And as we already have 3 games postponed those original numbers are already being seriously depleted.

Quite agree, but we hear of other teams turning a blind eye to their players test results. Our players and Club can do everything in their remit to prevent themselves from catching it locally, but they are reliant on their opponents players playing ball........scuse the pun.

The second wave was always going to 'come along' It was inevitable as soon as they started to relax the lockdown

Before the season kicked off, the EFL should have stated their intentions for the coming season, carved in stone.

Something along the lines of if the season is curtailed before 50% or 75% of the season has been played then it is null and void with no promotion or relegation from any league. Like it or lump it. If the league progresses past the stated figure then league positions stand, regardless of points per game etc. At whatever point in the season, if a team are in the top 3, then they deserve to finish there.

The bee all and end all is that all teams play in the EFL leagues under the EFL rules and regulations. There should be no complaining from clubs who may miss out by a point.

Damned if you do

Damned if you don’t

No right or wrong answer really. For every club that wants the season to carry on, I’d say there’s 2 that don’t. What I don’t understand however is why the EFL haven’t taken control of this situation and made clear the rules and regs.

* testing 2 days before a game by an affiliated company
* 1 player tests positive ; game postponed
* clarity of what happens should the season end early
* efl trophy dropped for the season

Out of interest have the EFL stated what the rules are regarding finishing or not of the league, eg, If only “X” number of games are played, or are they going to make it all up at a later date, probably depends where Salford finish as to what the rules will be!!!
