Has made a good impression on IH with regards his fitness etc during the Covid break!

Many players have obliterated their previous best times – and Elliott Hewitt in particular has returned looking a like a completely different player.

He has lost two stone in weight since the final game of last season – and has recorded one of the fastest times ever recorded for Holloway’s ‘special run’ – a tough fitness test he has made players do throughout his whole managerial career.

“Elliott Hewitt has done the second fastest time I have ever seen in my history. He has lost two stone and he looks absolutely great. He has come back lighter and is now our best runner at the club,” said Holloway.

Sounds like IH is more than happy for him to play CM

Hewitt's probably never going to be a fan's favourite, but given his versatility in what looks like is going to be a much smaller squad with respect to senior players, he could be key for us next season.

Just what I was thinking 2 stone is a lot to lose considering he was fit before.

Thinking about it I am sure it's an Ollie 2 stone so could be 7 lb.

I'm shocked Hewitt had 2 stone to lose. He never looked like an over weight player or a slouch who's engine ran out quickly.

I've liked the guy from the start. Was used wrong under you know who. Is very versatile and has a lot of good things going for him. Don't know why the fans didn't really take to him.

You're just a youngster mate,   next year will be my 70th year of supporting Grimsby Town, my memory is not so good now, but I remember watching Bob Crosby, Ron Rafferty, Mike Cullen, (who my Dad abused every single match), two fantastic wingers, Johnny Scott and Jimmy Fell.  George McClean comes to mind too, just a few of the great players we had back in the day.

Definitely a Holloway soundbite, there's no way Hewitt had 2 stone to drop.

First parts of the season I thought Hewitt was crucial to what we were trying to do.  Lots of whipped in crosses at pace to Hanson, he had it down to a tee from right-back.  Then for some reason he fell out of favour and was only used sparingly and often in midfield.  Not convinced he's strong enough for a midfield role but he was arguably Man of the Match in our last game when in that position.
