Thought it may be of interest to users of this site.

I recently caught up with Brian Laws and discussed his time as a player, playing under legendary manager Brian Clough at Forest, his transition into management and the infamous dressing room bust up with Ivano Bonetti at Grimsby Town!

Does he mention about GY fans singing 'Lawsy, Lawsy, where's your Wife?' at him?

I doubt many if any knew she had died. I sung it, I thought she'd left him which was acceptable banter. We aren't utter male masturbators although we didn't cover ourselves in glory there.

Everyone sang it because they thought his dead wife was in fact alive and had left him?  Hmm, I see.  What an unfortunate coincidence.

Not everybody sang it....a large proportion but not everybody.....the person who started it definatley knew what he was doing....a good proportion who followed knew but i would say there were those who were ignorant to it but who just joined in the chant..and there were those , like me, who just thought "oh no" ...

All in all Laws was heading to be a good manager for us, the football was quick, incisive, exciting , full of quality....right up until that half time chat.....what could have been.

Terrific irony in this one - personal abuse and foul language are against Forum Rules on here (having just read them).

So instead of crying to teacher / 'admin', perhaps you are the one who should attempt to dry your eyes and stay in line kidder.

Agreed.  Buckley Ball is the supposed golden standard as a Town fan but for me Laws took us to the next level, which is remarkable really when you consider Buckley came back and raided half the team.  Whilst annoying at the time that allowed Laws to do a rebuild (which was probably needed in fairness).  We were a little bit more direct than under Buckley but still played some absolutely beautiful stuff.

The 1995/96 season where we had a real go at challenging the big boys in that division was done without our best striker in Clive Mendonca and was a year before the emergence of John Oster.  Can you just imagine if we had those two available in that side....and obviously it hadn't all fell apart at Kenilworth Road.
