Would like to see MJ change the team a little this weekend. My choice, Dennis up top in place of Cook and Vernam in place of Embleton.
For me Embleton has gone off the boil a little over the last few games, and could benefit from a rest perhaps. Cook is a busy player who seems to give his all but think Dennis should be given a chance from the start to see what he can do against a team which we should be comfortably beating by 2 or 3 at home.

Didn't Embleton provide the assist for Hendrie's goal on Saturday?
Not sure I'd replace him but I probably agree that the team might benefit from a change or two to freshen it up.

We might be getting the results but it’s not been great to watch nor have we been particularly fluid in our attacking play, Vernam is very direct and runs with the ball, Dennis is a natural goalscorer. Get them in the side, let’s see what they can do!

Yet to be convinced by Vernam, he certainly has all the attributes to be a very good player however, he always seems to drift out of games after 20 minute cameo performances. Maybe just needs a longer run in the team but to date I can understand presently why he has been left out the starting eleven.

As for expecting us to win by at least three goals I think that’s taking optimism too far and as to quality of our performances the Newport and Yeovil games appear to have been quickly erased from your memory.

Other than those comments agree with everything you have said.

Would also support Harry returning for Woolly from the start.

I think that’s probably the case with Vernam - the only real runs he’s had in the first team have been in struggling Town sides. During the dying embers of the Slade debacle last season and our shocking run at the start of this.

Every time I watch him I feel like there’s a really technically gifted player there; the end product just doesn’t seem arrive often enough. I’m confident he’ll come good eventually, though I wouldn’t be opposed to a Dennis start on Saturday - he just looks like a ‘proper’ striker.

Clifton for Wooly and Charlie for Cook wouldn't be unreasonable to me - not that Wooly and Cook have done much wrong but we weren't great last week.

I think Whitmore will come in for Ohman, I think he came on as a sub when Ohman was sent off, maybe at that time RHJ had a knock, I seem to remember seeing some posts saying they felt RHJ was probably unlucky to get dropped.

As a home fixture and against a side that are struggling, we want to be going off on the front foot.  For that alone, it has to be RHJ back in defence for me.  I would have wanted this even before Ohman's sending off.  Having RHJ bomb forward from centre-back just causes sides so many problems and brings us a lot of success down that right flank.

In midfield, I can understand the calls for Clifton coming back in, Woolford has done well in there but has faded a little in recent games and Clifton brings that extra energy.  What Woolford does bring that no-one else in our side really does is a complete calmness on the ball.  He makes us keep possession and makes us keep it on the deck, without him I feel we're more likely to just hit it long.

Up top, feels inevitable that Cook will make way for Dennis eventually.  In my eyes Cook is one of our most important players, especially with the system we adopt, because he sets the tempo from the front.  His work-rate is also contagious, Thomas seems to be encouraged by Cook and follows suit in hassling defenders more.  I appreciate that's probably a lot easier playing in a two than a one like he has done for large spells of this season.

I think regardless if you play it long or you play it short, you need someone who is capable of holding the ball up.  From what I've seen there's only Thomas who can really do this, Cook to a lesser can do but it's not his strength.  When Thomas is on his game he holds the ball up brilliantly and it really sticks to him, as a result it's then a case of 3 (Vernam, Cook and Dennis) competing for that other slot.  Vernam has the technical game and is capable of running at players, Cook brings the tenacity and physicality whereas Dennis has the movement and looks to be a real natural finisher, despite a couple of missed chances so far.  I don't think we can say which is the best pairing and hopefully Jolley will be able to effectively utilise all 4 of his strikers depending on the opposition and how things are playing out.

It probably shows how far we've come that 3 months ago A.Rose was heralded as the best thing since sliced bread and it's not that long that Cardwell was given a new contract.  Now both are struggling to make the bench.  I've said before on occasions that the young lad Burrell in the youth set-up looks a genuine prospect too and whilst I'm not saying we should throw him in now, I wouldn't be too concerned if we had to call upon him this season.  The depth in attacking options is really encouraging at the minute, in fact the squad itself is full of options.  I dare say you could probably pick two very decent starting elevens from our squad - to the point that I would back the second string against the strongest side we could pick 12 months ago!

Shame Akheem not on bench really tho as he is still the only one we have with real pace. Would always be a good option in the last ten minutes of a game plus he needs the chance to blood in a bit more.
Im guessing we may see more of him if and when the playoffs are out of reach.

Be nice to see a few like Buckley and Pollock get a little run if playing dead rubbers.

The only unforced change I would make would be the energetic Clifton in for Woolford. No brainer IMO. RHJ in for the suspended Ludwig.
