Massive plus to have him fit enough to be involved again. Was expecting the worst to be honest.

Vernam has scored or assisted 10 goals. Only Thomas has more with 13. And that's with Vernam not really starting games until October. Important player for the way we play.

It'll be good to get him back in the side. As much as I like Cardwell, he's a bit lost at times in Vernams role out wide like he has been the last couple of weeks. Vernam also adds that bit of pace flair and creativity we lack apart from Embeleton.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I thought Cardwell did well today but Charlie would be in my starting line up every week at the moment.

Great to see him back involved.  That supporting 3 of Pringle, Vernam and Embleton is critical to how we want to progress.  More than enough ability there to offset one having an off-day or getting marked out the game.

Cardwell should be an alternative option to Thomas.

I still feel there is more to come from Vernam as I don't feel he is quite at full fitness yet. After serious knee injuries it can take many month, even years to get back to full strength so I hope that he can stay fit for the rest of the season and continue to improve in this regard. Wouldn't surprise me to see him get another half yard of pace if he can. As a relatively slight player in the mould of Vardy, this could make all the difference.

That said, I thought Cardwell acquitted himself pretty well yesterday. He turned his man on a couple of occasions and would have been away down the line if he hadn't been taken out by the defenders and also linked up well with midfield on occasion. A lot more first time lay-offs than you would normally expect from a 'big' forward though it would be nice if he won a few more headers. Another one who won't be fully fit for a while given his problem with injuries for much of the season.

I thought Vernam did more in the 15 or so minutes he was on than Akheem Rose did in his 30. (Not a dig at Akheem, an affirmation of Charles). I also thought Cardwell did well yesterday.

We all see players differently.

I dont see Cardwell as anything other than an average Conference player. Only young so may improve but i would doubt he will be ripping up any FL trees in 4 years time tbh.

Agree that there is a lot more to come from Vernam, injuries permitting

I'm pretty much with you hrre, Cardwell has nowhere near enough pace and struggles to get off the ground to attack the ball in the air, which was evident yesterday, he does have good ground control of the ball and is agile for a big lad but can't see him playing any higher than league 2 at best.

As for Vernham, there is definitely a good player in there, still think he needs to pick his head up quicker and pass the ball rather than trying to be a 1 man army but as he matures I can only see him improving season on season....

I thought it was just me in thinking Cardwell isn’t good in the air. He just doesn’t seem to time it right.......
