It seems as though a huge part of the identity of OUR club is to be sold out and destroyed for a bit of extra cash. I am so angry, Blundell Park will always be that and never anything else to me monster what the official name is. What next? Rename the pontoon 'The Ryanair no frills stand'?

This club really is an absolute shambles from top to bottom that's being held back by an inept board who have absolutely no idea how to run s football club and what a football club means to the ordinary loyal fan.

I take it this also means the new stadium idea is dead and buried? Maybe the club can blame me for that after my strong disagreement with Stella Lewis from Extreme, I know how much they love to blame the fans for everything that goes wrong.

Unfortunely thats the way football is, I'm sure fans would be more receptive if it was Blundell Park Sponsored by...

The "abandon all hope ye who enter here" stadium has a certain ring to it.

Maybe if BP were actually the sponsors?

It will still be known as BP but we'd have loads of petrodollars. Everyone's happy.

Surely the oil company BP would be the best sponsors. The ground may still be there even after we move on, home of Clee Town who knows.

Seems such a shame to go after sponsorship naming rights now when we only have 18 months to go before we move into the state of the art new stadium complex as a league 1 club.

I actually think we've done incredibly well not to have gone down this route already, its part n parcel of football today and whilst I'd love to remain a ''traditional'' club, I think it would be stupid not to make the most of it.

Stadium of Blight.

If we start playing better, i don't care what they call it. It'll always be BP to me anyway.

On another note, just been past the Linden club and there is a new stand been delivered, ready to go in. With the new lights and fencing, they are developing quicker than GTFC. They may well overtake us one day if our trajectories remain the same.

Perhaps the new stadium plan has been deconstructed.

The thing is though, the rate local companies keep disappearing doesn't it make three years a hell of a commitment?

What did it matter? Town get a wad of cash, or rather a bag of ha'pennys, some company gets their name on the gate, and everyone else carries on calling it Blundell Park.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

The extreme leisure stadium. Massive professional company like that will obviously have enough spare cash to sponsor b.p. and will see the great p.r. and marketing possibilities.
