We could have got a couple of decent players with that,

Oh I forgot Lincoln have WON  a few games to get that,

Unless its the fans fault for not attending the reason we did not win was Slades fault.

Just to add...they won those games with a squad built from the money made from last years FA Cup run (remember those?), in which they won a few more games.
Bit of a pattern emerging here...

It's more than that, probably nearer a quarter of a million with shared gate receipts from 6 games too. I get why people don't want others to go to these games so I respect people's opinions, however it's going to do sod all to change anything whether 6600 odd attend or 660.

I tend to agree with this

Games are there to be won regardless of the attendance.... nobody bats an eye when friendly games are played behind closed doors - the players should still go out looking to get a positive result

I supposed the difference with the Cheeky Tw@t is that it is competitive games we are talking about - it is still the players out there on the pitch though that count and not how many seats are filled or not as the case may be

attending those matches completely legitimizes the competition in it's current format. If attendances continued to be low they would have to change it. Shame on you and Lincoln City supporters.

Yes, completely misses the point of non-attendance. Problem here, however is that the Messiah "Danny" has also urged fans to turn up. This guy is so revered he was chosen to turn the towns Xmas lights on!

Rivalry and banter aside, if there's one team desperate for some form of success and a Wembley visit, and one set of fans willing to forego any protest/ethics in persuit of that then it's Lincoln.
It's the perfect storm of success starved fans/club and a cynical, slow turning of the screw from the authorities to divide the fans over an obnoxious idea.

And?????

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

£20,000 participation fee i think.

Not won much by the way of prize money, but you need to win games for that.

Coventry last season took 53,000 to Wembley in the CheckaTrade. Forgetting about the issue of 'plastics' how much money did they make from getting to Wembley and winning. A very large sum I would imagine. The way Lincoln are going they will end up with another massive windfall.

With all the money we would have made out of the comp we should have gone for the wins, only problem would be winning those games, but Slade would have had a master plan.

We would have dominated and conceded against the run of play, been the better team and had a couple of bad ref decisions - that's the normal master plan.

Couldn't care if they made a million out of it. We've won the competition with a golden goal in front of 30,000 fans at the old Wembley. We know the value of the competition and won't stand for it in it's current shoddy condition.

What's the point of this thread, is it to indicate that Slade is shite for failing to win a single game in the competition or to have a go at the fans for failing to turn up to watch his team lose some more matches?

Started by Ascend, so it has to involve finance. He's already explained the Town finances, so we are getting Lincoln's now.

Doesn't this bit concern every football fan in the land? It's frightening.

Basically, a club makes money (or breaks even, or whatever) without needing one fan to turn up. That's dangerous.

That gives us a sport that no longer needs fans to attend games.

If you don't need fans to attend games, you've lost the heart and soul of everything that sport stands for - what communities and (some) whole towns stand for.

If GTFC doesn't need Grimsby, it can uproots and go anywhere it likes. Dublin, Milton Keynes...

Not saying that's going to happen to us (any time soon, at least) but if you take a broad look at where football was, where it is today and where it's going based on general trends over the last few decades, you can absolutely see why so many fans are doing their upmost - through boycotts and the like - to protect our beautiful game.

I'll never go to a Checkatrade match as long as it exists like this, even if they give us £160,000. I'd rather us earn nothing and keep the club playing for the fans and the community it represents.

The point here getting missed time and again is this competition was set up to give lower league players and fans their only realistic chance to visit Wembley in support of the Club they love.98 we got our turn vs Bournemouth and the raw emotion was amazing for a Club like ours I wish every fan could feel that. Today all that`s been lost if Lincoln get to Wembley v Chelsea u23,s of course Lincoln fans will go or want to go to the game and experience Wembley but in 2018 they are not getting what we had in 98.The games changed that`s a fact is it for the better?
