What’s a Chairman ? 🤔

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

And this is why a supporters owned club is a viable proposition:

"The club is free of debt and covers it’s costs every season through good management, excellent sponsors and the support of the local community with an increase in attendances this season even though the team are mid table in the league. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the two supporters groups who raise money for the club which has gone towards refurbishment of the ladies toilets and new carpets in the club house and helps with the player’s expenses."

Except for the 'free of debt' piece. over to you John. When you've calculated the cost of your decisions (you controlled the club remember so it's down to you) and worked out a £2m write off represents a good discount.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

What’s a Chairman ? 🤔

I heard we had one eons ago so did some research, and according to Wikipedia

"The chairman (also chairperson, chairwoman or chair) is the highest officer of an organized group such as a board, a committee, or a deliberative assembly. The person holding the office is typically elected or appointed by the members of the group. The chairman presides over meetings of the assembled group and conducts its business in an orderly fashion.[1] When the group is not in session, the officer's duties often include acting as its head, its representative to the outside world and its spokesperson. In some organizations, this position is also called president (or other title),[2][3] in others, where a board appoints a president (or other title), the two different terms are used for distinctly different positions".

Maybe Fenty's SLO can tell us why we don't have one.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

I don't know the ins and outs of this Bridlington & Ferriby situation but Brid's chairman Pete Smurthwaite always comes across as a decent bloke... he's very knowledgeable when it comes to all the local teams and generally speaks a lot of sense so I think if says he's being shafted by Ferriby, then he probably is...

I agree, I was going to post something similar.

Probably the only chairman around here that does.

Not 100% sure but I think they've pulled out, which is probably why they are 20 points from safety at the bottom of National League North and have only won 1 game all season.

Suggest someone digs out scunnys accounts for the last 2 years, my guess is that they lost loads and their non chairman is subsidising them.

He is and doesn't care to the tune between £250 to £350K per season I've heard.

Found the statement for the year ending June 2016. Pre tax losses of £3.75 million. Previous years losses about £3.2 million.

It's through a share issue, so gifts. I don't think it'd be possible to do that through loans and comply with the ffp rules.
