No question Slade & Wilko have to go.  A few points off playoffs I was happy to give them the benifit of doubt especially with Osborne due back.  Since then its all changed, now its getting serious.

At this moment in time we are safe from relegation, but carry on our current form that could soon change.  Now is the time to get rid and at least give somebody a chance until the end of the season, fingers crossed we would at worst get that new managet honeymoon and pick up a few more points towards safety.

Personally I would love to see Disley come back as manager until the end of the season.  I know we have had bad experiances before with ex players, but I do think Dizza is different.  He would get immeadiate respect from the players and I reckon he'd have the necessary man management skills.

For the love of Christ.. Groves, Woods, Rodger, wasn't that enough?

If you love Dis that much, would you really want to throw him unarmed into a bear pit?

I'm no expert at formations and I can't remember what I did yesterday but I'm willing to manage the club for the rest of the season if needed

Not even  joking I once got Staines Town into the Premiership on FM15 on my phone and only bought £10 worth of coins to help me. Give me the job, all I ask is for £49 petrol money to get to and from Grimsby every day (I'd say £50 but I k ow that is to much)

Back to the original post, I think we’ve seen enough of highly respected ex-players trying to manage the club.  Lots of time for Craig but his management potential is irrelevant while fenty is at the helm.

Not saying I would but also not sure why so many are mocking this.

I’ve know idea whether Disley would be interested but, if he was, I think it’s worth considering. He comes across as an articulate and intelligent guy and someone who could galvanise those around him. He also knows the club, the directors and the fans well and what he would be taking on.

I don’t know whether he has any coaching badges but I get the impression this is something that can be navigated and personally badges/qualifications aren’t something that overly bother me in terms of an indication of someone’s ability. Slade has all his and they ain’t doing him much good.

He could be an Eddie Howe or he could be a Paul Groves but if I had the choice between Slade and Disley right now I think I might roll the dice.

Because,

- He's not managed a team before
- He has no coaching acediation
- We are in the sh1t
- We have no money to spend
- Many of the players at the club (who Slade has signed) don't know him or more importantly trust him

I could go on, though would like to add he's a real gentleman, nice person, was a good player and an even better captain, is a top pro (even at his current level) and people like him will be successful in anything they do as long as they learn their trade and work hard which I am sure he will do.

Too many clubs appoint too many 'legends' who then disappoint. I'd prefer to remember Dis as Captain, Leader, Legend than Boss, Loser, Sacked.

Think Neil Woods and he had way more experience than Dis. Big fat no from me, and as Codger says, i don't want a reason to dislike the Dizza. He should be remembered fondly.

Thanks Herts, as a fan of 30+ years those things had missed my attention so kind of you to point them out.

As I said above points one and two seem to have little bearing on being a successful manager at GTFC and everyone needs a first job somewhere. He’d hardly be stepping straight into the prem. Having a coaching badge signifies nothing beyond the fact you have completed a coaching course, which isn’t difficult.

Most new managers step into a sh1te situation whether it be their first job or their tenth.

We never have any money - not sure how this is relevant as any new man will be in the same boat.

Any new manager will also be in the same boat with regards playing staff. If you look at my list of what Disley is familiar with one thing not on it was players.

I’m not advocating Disley as the next manager but, should Slade go, I wouldn’t simply rule him out or see it as the ludicrous suggestion some are making it out to be.

Sorry to say but it certainly is ludicrous.
Putting an ex player in charge of a difficult situation(potential relegation battle) with no experience is a recipe for disaster.
Don't think JF would be that reckless...

Oh hold on.
