I think one or two need a sense of balance and perspective, irrespective of whether or not they like Gateshead or Aspin personally. He might have shown a bit more class in his comments but he has a point.
Sam Jones is their best player, on a two year contract with great potential. We offered a silly amount of money to try to sign him - they dismissed it out of hand and called it like it was - a bit like we did with Barnet's daft bid for Bogle a couple of months back. It's all relative and par for the course, and been going on between clubs for years. Some of our fans are quite indignant about the comments as though we have a right to take who we want from non league for sod all. How would people have reacted last season if a L2 club had approached us to sign Bogle for (say) 25/30k?! There'd have been derision and pant wetting.
I feel a bit sorry for the player actually. It's ok Aspin saying he 'laughed' when told of the bid, but he might have liked to play for a league club in front of a proper crowd, and really progress his career. Obviously, we could make a better use of everyone's time by making a sensible bid that can actually be considered or we can move on. I don't think this reflects well on either club particularly.

I had a good read through the Solihull message boards as we were interested in 2 more of their players. It was very clear that their fans rated Jamey Osborne very highly. The club gave him a 2 year contract, despite coming from a lower league.
They rated him much higher than Asante and quite a few higher than Omar. Against league teams Luton and Yeovil Osborne demonstrated his excellent skills.

500 quid and a box of Haddock, Aspin only eats cod so he turned it down Seriously I would have thought about 5 grand and they are thinking 50,000, BUT We could settle for 25,000k if their board tells Aspin they need the money.

We may have laughed it off chaos, but the club wouldn't publicly say that we'd never do any dealings with the club again. Laugh off the shitty bid and get on with your life. It does feel like his annoyance goes beyond the bid.

Has anyone got any definitive details on Osborne's contract at Moors? A quick peek on their forum seems to have us Grimsby fans put in our place, as Osborne apparently is signed until 2018, despite 2017 being quoted. I've only seen his contract as ending June 2017, but an extension could have been made meantime. Would put a slightly different complexion on things, just not sure which websites would be bang up to date.

I'm with you Pete ultimately the manager will do as he is told.
