Lundy and Wilko, what a pairing, and from the youth ranks as well. From the time Tommy Casey set up the Town youth system in the mid 1970's we turned out great local players, the Moore brothers, Drinkell, Ford, Mawer, Lund, Wilkinson, McDermott, Emson and others - very much like Southampton are doing now, and the likes of Crewe Alexandra have done for years. These two were so exciting as a front two partnership that anything was possible, like whupping Everton at Goodison Park in the 1984-5 season when Wilko scored that goal - the only time Everton failed to score at Goodison that season, and the only home defeat they tasted there as well as they became Champions. Will post some photos from that game tomorrow.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

And here's me expecting a thread about Arthur Scargill

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Paul Wilkinson and Gary Lund were both in the England under 21 squad as well.
