Complete joke.  The man has done nothing for the town over the years and has actively hampered any development in the area.

I'd rather see people like the bloke who ran the youth club on Skint getting a gong.  Unfortunately, political types know how the honours nomination process works and how to get gongs for their mates.  I've even been to a local political party meeting where an old lady complained that her MBE post-nominals were left off her name on the minutes of a previous meeting.  These are the sort of people we're dealing with here.

The people that work hard running places like the Shalom youth centre etc never get any recognition like this. Granted, the vast majority are humble and don't donit for awards but it would be nice to see them get something.

Sadly because they help the 'poor' people politicians and the like don't care and dicks like De Fraitus get the plaudits even though losing £3m of public money is seemingly ok and hindering any real development of a town crying out for it...

De freitas does work hard. He is always out and about in his ward, probably more than any other councillor(?)

My main gripe with him is that rather than listening to the people he represents and acting accordingly he makes his own mind up and then goes round ramming his thoughts down other peoples throats.

Personally I think he's within his rights to complain about the stadium if he genuinely believes it's not in his constituents' best interests (I don't agree with him). My main gripe is the £7m he lost in that Icelandic bank despite being warned that it was not a safe investment. He should be held personally liable for that negligence. How he has got an MBE is beyond me.

I wasn't referring to the stadium, just his general stance on things having lived in Park ward for the last 20 years.

I agree about the Icelandic bank scandal. Done in best interests and all that BUT when things go mammaries up I'd expect someone to carry the can not be honoured!,
