Can anyone remember seeing Clarrie Williams between the sticks?

He had a pretty impressive record at keeping clean sheets. In fact, massively impressive!

Yes I think he was my first GTFC goal keeper. Good he was too.

He was mine too. Coming to the end of his career then and he was taking a bit of stick from the crowd at times because I think his confidence was going.

His brother Derek was a winger & centre forward, scored 4 in one game I believe. Very quick lad. I didn't know male private Young was a cousin. Scored a lot of goals in the A and reserve sides. In one game Town played Young, Tees and George McLean in attack. Not a success if I remember rightly.

Yes Clarrie was in goal when I started watching town in 1955,

He was a coach when I played for the juniors in 1963,

A very nice person and a good keeper.


                             Over 36 years living in Suffolk but always a mariner.
