So, if you could have one thing to be included in the new ground, what would it be (within reason)! No long paragraphs and sentences, just your most selfish want...........

Oxford, Hemel and Gloucester, similar sized towns to Grimsby, and not in the traditional area of the sport, all started in the Championship1 last year. It's not that hard to get in that league I don't think because there aren't many teams fighting for a spot.

3G training pitches for the academy so the boys can play on a decent surface in the winter, The pitches at Oasis are now shared with the Gradely league and are quite embarrassing when football league academies arrive and we have no grass to play on.

Decent theming (e.g. innovative lighting, murals, black/white/red colouring and pictures) to prevent the ground from like a souless identikit new-build stadium.

I don't ask for much, but im all for saving money for the club, so this >> http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-12921843
Quoted from BBC News | 31st March 2011
Barnsley Football Club installs solar panels

Barnsley Football Club is to install solar panels on the south and east stands of its Oakwell ground.

The panels will be used to power the club's buildings, with the club hoping to save tens of thousands of pounds on energy bills.

Energy which is not used by the club will be sold to the National Grid.

Don Rowing, General manager of Oakwell said the £1m project starting in May would help the Reds "go green".

He said: "With energy costs spiralling and likely to continue that way it makes business sense to use the large amount of roof surface available to us to save the club money and also to reduce our carbon footprint.

"This just shows what a green place Barnsley is and even though we are the Reds we can go green."

The panels will be installed by local company, Solar Europa, starting on 9 May to be completed by June.

I was thinking this. Nautical / football theme eg naming and decorating bars like the Captain's Cabin (portholes with pictures of past captains) and the Engine Room (midfielders in the portholes).

A club/bar/pub accessible from outside the ground by all fans so home and away fans can mingle and have a few pre and/or post-match beers.

Something like Boots & Laces at Torquay!

Stands close to the pitch, no huge gaps between like some new grounds.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Standing behind home goal,
Montage to ex players outside the ground like arsenal have at the Emirates,
A two tiered stand,
Black and white seats (like the pontoon),

I'm sure I'll think of a few more...

York City and York City Knights likewise at the new stadium.

It makes perfect sense to have two organisations using a ground all year round!

I'd want the new ground to look old.

Surely someone can design a new stadium that has all the mod-cons but also appears like it's got history?

Anything to avoid it looking grey, miserable and like any other new stadium you see.

3. Good acoustics
4. It is no bigger than 12,000 but has the option to extend

1)  Safe standing
2)  Downward-angled roof for acoustics
3)  Stands close to the pitch
4)  Plenty of indoor bars with seating
5)  The word "stadium" not to appear in the name
6)  The main stand to have a black and white striped gable in its roof with "Grimsby Town Football Club" on it

Best for me so far

1.That it has safe standing
2. It doesn't have open corners
3. Good acoustics through well shaped stands
4. GTFC History Museum
5. 3G Pitches
6. Theming
7. memorial Garden
8. .stands close to pitch
9. Shaped like a boat ....this really is possible and can incorporate the things within the ends that fenty has mentioned
10. Heated seats (this could work in specific areas where season tickets are extra, usually around the directors box area.
11. Solar Panels

And my four

free WIFI  (sorry to be boring
A good sound system!!!
An onsite hotel, perhaps in one of the corners...(if it was to have this it would need a good restaurant (fish and chip of course) and a casino as some grounds do)
Bike sheds in secure compound

I think Fenty could do a lot worse than pay attention to this thread BEFORE the developers redesign the proposed stadium

Bike sheds in secure compound - surely must be considered as essential when planning transport options (and adds an incentive/flexibility that might get a few less in their cars).

God, no, to solar panels. Waste of money.

Concentrate on building a user-friendly design with good views from all stands and, somehow, a bit of 'character' instead of just the usual concrete boxes we see these days. How to do this? I don't know, I'm not an architect, but I'm sure it's possible!

Obviously, improved catering and amenities would also be nice.

Surely the club don't pay for the panels but get a cut of the power produced from the installers?

Quoted from Maringer
God, no, to solar panels. Waste of money.
Quoted from rancido
Surely the club don't pay for the panels but get a cut of the power produced from the installers?
Quoted from Garth
Agree, same as PVC windows instead of wood, that was a failure it will never take on
Really Are you sure about that lol

Benefits and how much does a Commercial PV Solar system cost?
 • Enviromentally friendly!
 • Electricity prices will increase average annual fuel price rises of 8 per cent, there’s the risk fuel bills could double by 2023.
 • Reduce operating costs - The stadium woudn't use any electricity from the powergrid, so no electricity bill.
 • New housing development, retail outlets could run from the excess Electricity produced, or/and any excess sold back to the national grid.

Commercial Solar systems tend to range between 4kWp and 50kWp in size, although it is possible to install systems up to 5MW. Prices vary depending on system size, but typically cost between £7,500 for a 4kWp system and up to £87,500 for a 50kWp system.

Through Feed-in Tariff payments, Businesses can expect to recover the cost of installation in around 7 years and get a profitable Return on Investment of around 13%.

For example, a large Business with 240 square meters of roof space available may opt for a 30kWp Commercial Solar PV system, which would cost an estimated £52,500 to install.

Through the Feed-in Tariff payments, the Business could expect to recuperate £6,847 per year in Commercial Solar earnings and savings, recovering the cost of installation within 7 years and giving a profitable return of £136,940 in income and savings over the 20 year FIT period.

The table below highlights estimated costs and savings for Commercial PV Solar systems suitable for Businesses - 10kWp, 25kWp and 50kWp - as well as the impressive Return on Investment:
