£2,000  buy it now price  or make an offer.   Item number-261627659638
It looks well worn and according to Bills Wife he used it until his death.
Should be much cheaper than 2 grand though,it needs a flint  .

Cheers meza

I offered him a pack of Trebor mints (they're a minty bit stronger), a half eaten steak ginsters pasty and tom newey.

He turned me down when I mentioned tom newey

When it comes to mementoes, I think I'd rather have Rob Scott's P45 than Bill Shankley's lighter. It would look good on the wall. I don't associate BS with GTFC anyway.

You could spend all that money on the lighter and find out that you can`t get flints for it anymore,  seems a risk IMO it would be only worth scrap metal price

Or a pair of Tommy Forcasts gloves, as in new condition only used one season

Bill was Town's manager from 1951 to 1953 just before my time Rob,

My dad starting taking me in 1955 but always told me he was Towns manager whenever Liverpool was on the telly,

" Did I ever tell you he was town's manager Pete " he would say,

Every bloody time Liverpool was on the box,

He even took me to Scunthorpe one night because Liverpool was playing the Scunts,

" What are we doing here I asked, ?  Town are not playing.

It would have been hard work in those days Pete, no sync gearbox or power steering, I once had a go at driving an old Albion rigid truck(unloaded) and you needed arms of a weightlifter and legs of a Olympic swimmer

It sure was Garth,

It was bad enough in the 70's when I was a  Bus Driver driving 20year old Buses around the town,

Then the new Fleetline buses came and they were as easy to drive as a car.

Double de clutching all gears, feet pumping like playing a church organ, the knack was to match the revs engine and box
