They must of had talks with Gary Brabin he lives in Liverpool i think, i noticed Martin Foyle also coaches port Vale Under 15 while he was manager of Southport maybe they thought he wasn't committed to the job.

Speaking to a Southport fan I work with, Brabin was at the game on Saturday so it was clearly already a done deal.
