Well, yes, he's more likely to pick up an injury if playing competitive games instead of just not playing at all.
I don't think it's exactly that much of a risk, however. You get young kids playing in teams at all levels and they seem to get by OK so the fact that he's a young professional playing in an amateur team shouldn't be a problem.
I'd rather these youngsters were out playing regularly somewhere than doing nothing but training and not even getting on the bench.

Not necessarily Garth, I've started playing walking football down Bradley twice a week and I've picked up more injuries in the 5 weeks since I started playing, than I ever had in 28 years at a quite competitive standard. Walking footie is great fun though and they are a friendly bunch of guys, would recommend to anyone who's getting on a bit and still enjoys a kick around ,it's much better than going to the gym.

I would love to play any kind of football, Sadly arthritis in my knees apart from a dicky back makes it impossible, I do make a effort on a Sunday morning to get down to watch my granddaughters young man play, I can just about walk up and down with the dog for 5 mins before I have to sit down and watch the rest of the game,

Yeh ! you will be ok at Walking footie then Pete,I'm out at the moment through injury and this is supposed to be light exercise and recommended by GP's I've got a right foot as big as a football, can't wait to play again, when it goes down. In the 5 weeks since I started,Hamstring, groin, elbow and ankle problems, went in goal for 15mins and bent 3 fingers back, bruises everywhere but great fun.The missus was expecting me to become a new man, well I am, I'm now a wreck.

Until I had an accident at work which stopped my footy life, I never missed a game through injury, I had the odd strain and ache but just played on, When I was at school we got to the final of some cup played at Louth United's ground, The previous evening I played for Grimsby Juniors scoring twice in a 3-0 win in another local cup final, I told our PE Teacher I had sprained my ankle and was unsure if I could play, He said , you are playing, you are better on one leg than most of the others are on two, That made me feel very good , So I played ( not very well ) but we won and I got two winners medals in two days. Now it hurts like hell when I kick a ball.

What happens if you run during walking football? Is it a foul?
