I would certainly like to see Cook and Brodie start up front

I'm not sure I'd start Devitt. He just isnt doing what he is capable of when on the ball and therefore his lack of contribution to the other areas of the game mean he is a passenger.

I said in the 'just back' thread that i felt sorry for Ross Hannah last night. If we are going to play balls 3 feet over his head then he is no use, but if we can find someone who can actually pick out his intelligent runs and movement by playing to him along the ground then I'd start him.

Last night wouldnt have given anyone hope for the rest of the season

I agree with big chris about Hannah I think that since Neilson left no one can find a pass suitable for Ross to get on the end of !

I think Frankie Artus might play alongside Disley with Thanoj on the bench. Defence picks itself if Pearson is fit, if not we are up sh1t creek. Doesn't seem to make much difference who plays wide but my guess is it will be Devitt and Marshall to start with. Up front I expect Cook and Hannah to start.

Considering how sh!t we are on the wings think we should go three in middle and three up front. Team as follows:

                                  Macca

Hatton              Miller               Pearson           Thomas

         Disley              Niven                Marshall

         Brodie             Hannah             Cook

Subs - Hearn/Wood/Thanoj/Devitt/Colbeck

I agree about switching to 4-3-3...but I doubt it will happen as I think I said in another thread, not many managers would play one formation than switch it to a new one in the cup final.  Personally, I'd take the chance because of the back of the past couples of games (even before our first loss of the four to Kiddie), we looked weak on the wings, people have figured us out and Marshall who was extremely effective in his first couple of games is now easily dealt with by the opposition and I don't think Colbeck and Devitt have been good enough for a while now.

I might consider playing Hearn just because he offered more in 30 minutes against Cambridge then Brodie and Cook did all game.  Who I'd drop him for would be a toss up between Brodie and Cook but not sure which one, Brodie can often disturbe defences and Cook is our top goalscorer so (although looking off his best lately).

Only other thing I would look at in that is Marshall, could be a good ploy given a free role across the middle.  If not him, than Thanoj imo

If everybody is fit then for me it picks itself:

McKeown
Hatton
Miller
Pearson
Thomas
Marshall
Niven
Disley
Devitt
Hannah
Cook

Big pitch and they're a team of advancing years so I'd play Marshall and Devitt, get it wide and try and stretch them. Niven being back would be a massive plus.

Simon Ford recalled
Ian Miller
Aswad Thomas - Right back

Joe 'Beckham' Colbeck - Left midfield
Andi Thanoj
Frankie Artus
Derek Niven - Right Midfield

Lenell John Lewis
Dayle Southwell

Rotation is key.

Just imagine you are Itchy or Scratchy (or both) - you don't have any tactics or if you do you keeping changing them all the time, take a pin, shut your eyes and get picking!

Hannah must play , he is the only natural goalscorer,

The other players have got to learn not to kick the ball over his head,

Christ !!!   its not that hard to keep the ball on the ground.

Agree with this - and the most likely player to give him the passes he needs is IMO Andy Thanoj.
This means praying for Niven's return. (Disley is probably knackered from playing 90 minutes when half-fit on Tuesday, and I don't see Artus as a defensive midfielder - though he would be fresher than most. Wilson? ? ?)

Can you see any merit in Town going either 4-3-3 and trying to actually win games by creating chances or more likely 4-5-1 and shutting up shop playing for a set piece winner for next few games BC?
