I've been to the 28 highlighted. My favourite was Roker Park. I remember we went there 84/85ish. Sunderland had just been relegated from Division One the season before. It was about 6 or 7 games into the Division 2 season and they had lost every game so far and not even scored.

When Eric Gates put them in front early on the "Roker Roar" was amazing. I've not heard a sound like that before or since. It makes you wonder what it must have been like back in the 50's and 60's.

The game ended 3-3 and Sunderland just stayed up at the end of that season but the following season we were both relegated to the Third Division.

Blooming ek!

17 of them.mquite surprised really.

Favourites being ayresome park, roker park and the vetch.

Am sure you could add plenty more places that have had each stand redeveloped to become a "new" ground

Danny Blanchflower described it as being like nothing he'd heard before, after a 1961 FA Cup tie.
Sadly it's not quite the same at The SOL, particularly the way things are going now.

One of my oldest friends lived down Hamden road at the back of roker park (pie shop on the corner too). There's was always a special feeling (probably the curry or rum!) when going to a game there. And always a good laugh.

Went out to a club in Sunderland after dobbins belter to beat the Geordies. It was a cheap night!

I've been to 21 of them. The strangest experience was at a night match between Middlesborough and Nottingham Forest  at Ayresome Park in 1978 when, before the match, the stadium announcer exhorted the home fans to give a rousing cheer for 'this season's champions' when Forest still had 10 matches to play and were only 2 points ahead of the second-placed team!! I doubt that such sportsmanship is still alive and well in the Premier League! The scariest experience was after a night match at Springfield Park, Wigan. I arrived late for the kick-off and parked my car in a street of red-brick terraced houses and rushed off to the ground. On leaving the match I discovered that any number of identical streets surrounded all sides of the ground and I couldn't remember for the life of me which one contained my car! I was beginning to get very worried when everybody else in the crowd had gone home and I was still wandering the streets! Eventually I happened upon it about an hour after the game had finished! Phew!!

I can remember after we beat Middlesborough in the FA Cup in '89 we were getting pelted with coins by the Boro fans. The police kept us just outside the away turnstile area until they had dispersed the Boro "fans" waiting for us at the end of the street.

When we finally got back to the car I spotted a car with a Grimsby number plate in front so decided to follow him but he went down a dead end street with loads of dodgy looking terrace houses on each side. Then I spotted a gang of Boro fans coming towards us. I reckon that must have been the quickest 3 point turn I've ever done with the car in front I'd followed not far behind.

Aye it got a bit naughty outside there after the game I made the mistake of going on the train and had to run the gauntlet afterwards with a rapidly melting band of Town fans the OB smiled and said fill your boots lads isnt this what you come for

It wasn't just coins, half bricks and broken coping stones were being thrown.

a total of 12 for me, thats a bit dissapointing if i am honest i have travelled extensively with town but just not to any of these old grounds.    these were proper grounds with character  (dumps) lol not like these modern all concrete monstroceties.  plenty of atmosphere at the baseball ground and filbert street but i cant see that replicated at pride park and walkers stadium for example.
