Why does the club do it?

Four stands open for only 1200 people? Stewards, kiosks, turnstiles, electricity,  etc etc all to be paid for. The Findus could have accommodated everybody today.

is it because for a cup game the gate receipts are split after expenses?

yes but what I mean is perhaps it is in the club's interest to make the expenses look as high as possible so that most of the ticket cash is soaked up by expenses

If any of the expensies are incurred no matter how many stands are open then it might be that it's better value to open all stands during a cup game. I don't know, it's just a suggestion as to why they'd open all stands for what is certainly a game that will attract under 2,000.

Does it really save us that much money opening up less stands?

Im only guessing but I thought stewards and policing costs were based on the amount of numbers at the game, which will obviously stay the same regardless of where fans sit. Theres hardly many lights in the stands that are just for the fans, most of the lights are for the pitch when it gets dingy. The food is outsourced so that makes no differecne how many stands are open either.

Maybe the cost of a couple of people running the bars and the turnstiles, but hardly a huge amount.

When running a business then every pound should be a prisoner.
Less stands = less stewards and less turnstile operators for a start. Steward numbers i would assume are a mixture of crowd numbers as well as basic safety duties, ie steward to man emergency gates and points. If the stand is open then emergency gates will meed manning no matter how many numbers are in. If closed they would not.
Turnstile operators could be reduced as well and between them you could maybe pay a players wages for the week.

Surely then, just the findus could've been opened? Put the away fans in the osmand side at the top and use that safety netting stuff to separate the fans?
