Let's see how Marshall does over the next few weeks. He'll be important over Xmas with the other loans running out, if he grabs a winner against Lincoln or has a stormer against them we could have a real hero in the ranks.

The one player who i hope they can get the signature of is Shaun Pearson. Out of contract in June and will not be under 23 by that time.

Vital we get him signed up,a) to retain his services and b) to get a decent fee for him if he moves on

Well for a start Joebeck plays right wing and Marcus prefers left wing.

It's more of Marcus brings way more to the table than Artus!

You can't ask for add ons for a player out of contract it's decided by a tribunal I think we'd get 30-50k for him but I'd prefer if he stayed with us.

I think you have missed out a decimal point.

An out of contract full back at Conference level would not cost anywhere near £30k imo

Would sign them all if the club were able to, think a couple will leave January and a couple more in (plus the above named loan players) and we will have a great shout then for the title! UTM

This.

As I said the other day, finances will be the problem.  Whilst Pond is good he isn't a necessity when we have Miller and Ford already on the books.  Hannah and Neilson are, IMO, must haves if we are serious about being promoted.

firstly it depends on which division we are in, however unless Southwell breaks into the team and starts reguarly I can't see him getting a deal, maybe a short term one.

Agree with the others, though I can't see Flemming signing another deal unless he really likes never playing, and if G Pearson sorts his fitness out you never know, but right now no.

If we dont sign neilson Hannah and pond on permanent i will be very disappointed with the club because to getout of this league you need to spend alot of money and if we areas committed as fenty and co make out to getting into the league again we must fork out whatever is necessary and there is no excuses as far as im concerned because elding soares and ford should be off the books in January and so it frees up space and wages so no excuses if we dont sign all 3

Irrespective of which league we are in, I wouldn't renew the following players contracts for the following reasons:

Bradley Wood - I have loads of time for the lad but I don't think he has enough technical ability. I'd only keep him if he is cheap. Harsh I know, but there you go.

Simon Ford - I haven't seen him play for ten years, says it all really though he should be able to smash this level. He's a victim of the form of the centre backs ahead of him and he hasn't had a chance as yet.

Frankie Artus - Technically gifted but not quick enough to play wide left or strong enough to play centrally. You could say the same about Craig Disley but is Artus as mobile? Disley has been getting his foot in a bit more recently so perhaps I'm being a little unfair to him.

Louis Soares - Easy choice to release Louis how I doubt has the mentality to play at a decent sized club. He's looked like a fish out of water though his record shows he has goals in him, we haven't seen any evidence at all. He looks lightweight and desperately short of confidence. I'd question his mental strength but I hope he proves me wrong over the coming weeks.

Greg Pearson - Been unlucky with injuries but when I've seen him, I would liken him to Bambi on ice. Being fair to the lad, he can't have been 100% fit all season but I haven't seen anywhere near enough quality.

As Chris said, we need to tie Shaun Pearson's contact up as soon as possible. I would expect his agent is discreetly touting him around though as he his highly rated and at 24 will be a Bosman free. I haven't seen Fleming at all but we need a second keeper to push James. Disley is 31 and worth another one year deal, Niven is the ankle biter we have needed for years and is worth another deal. Southwell has some potential though I haven't seen too much of him and will be cheap enough I would have thought.

Exactly, cod. These things are never easy many things can get in the way of a move. I am sure the club will try as hard as it can to get these players to stay, at least to the end of the season. If we are promoted then they may be happy to stay longer. good incentive to play well in a winning team with at least a chance of promotion. It makes it a bit easier to persuade players to come.

I certainly think we should try to sign Pond, if Fleetwood are willing. Apart from the fact he has been excellent at centre-back , he can also play centre-midfield and quite well. When you have smallish squads it is imperative that you have some players who can play in an alternative position. I don't mean " fill-in " like Artus has done, wide on the left even though it is not a position he is suited to , but a position the player feels comfortable in. I still remember when we played Fleetwood at BP the season before last and Pond absolutely ran everything in mid-field. It may not be his prefered position but in an emergency it is a role he can do well. With him in the squad we wouldn't need 4 centre-backs , which frees up some money for another specialist player.

Hannah and Nielson are essential.
We need a goal scorer, theres Hannah.
Nielson, miles to good for this league, looks a cut above, most of are good work is through him, before he came our midfield looked devoid of ideas.

I'd like all 4 to be honest.

In reality we could do with getting Ford, Soares and maybe even Artus off the books to sign these lads.
Its hard to shift deadwood though, especially in January.

So if Liam was under 24 and based on last season would that be the same?

We've had brad for years he's also played lg2 and we've developed him.  Only time will tell.

Bradley Wood, local lad, seems to love the club, committed, can't be on a fortune surely ?
Is it really wise to give him he boot ?
Or is it just cos Hatton's got his til 2014 ?

You're always gonna need backup of sorts and who's to say he couldn't e.g. play central midfield too ? (unless we e.g. sign Pond)

Depending on promotion, I'd be considering stripping out the oldies (presumably on higher wages ? )and keeping the cheaper ones with a bit of potential.
Obviously it's all guesswork but if Soares isn't on a fortune, I'd think twice before giving him (albeit at 28 ) the bullet too.

Club must be in a tricky position knowing whether to offer contracts or not.

But interesting to note, a lot of very useful players contracts don't expire until 2014 so would hope we'll think positive and sign a few of the loanees possibly for e,g, a year and a half until the summer of 2014 ?...

http://www.codalmighty.com/site/ca.php?page=1213/stats/player_contracts

Course there's always cost and risk but can we give it another year if this one doesn't work out ?
I'd say if possible, let's be positive about the progress made to date and not make any drastic cuts until after 2014.

I don't doubt his commitment. He gives literally 100% all of the time and I appreciate him. I just don't think he's up to it, I wish he was as he deserves to excel in what he does.

He isn't a local lad though is he? Think he's from Leicester?

May never be the greatest footballer but he's always been a fan of mine.
Am I biased ?
Probably !
But who knows what's gonna happen next season.
I hope it's promotion and if not, another big push but if not, just think we might need young, harder working committed players here irrespective of their technical ability. (not that I think he's any duffer by any means but see what Vicar means).
Either way I'd like him to stay but that's me, I'm a BW fan !

It would be foolish not offer BW a new deal he's still young and will get better and better and I'd rather that he achieved that here and not at some other club if I'm being honest.

Quoted from MARINERSMAN22
I think we should sign nison adn hannah and pond

Pond is decent but we lack another striker (other than Hearn who is out until March) like Hannah really. I would argue Hearn is more of a poacher than Hearn too. Has everyone forgot we still have Miller who was very impressive when he came in v Lincoln at home and onwards last season. I would make Hannah a priority over Pond but be willing to sign them both.
