I have never really bought the whole Mod thing. . . . . Mods emerged in the early sixties as modernists in reaction to old fashioned rock and roll obsessed dinosaurs. . . It seems ironic that such a group have never moved on and are living so deeply in the past without sense of their own style that they have to revert to sixties nostalgia. . . .   More than this though. . . . .

Ocean colour scene are absolutely, completely, utterly, unquestionably SH1T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just a group of people passionate about a genre of music, clothes, scooters and lifestyle, what makes you think we are living in the past when a lot of us are new to it and weren't around "in the 60s"
i suppose i should shut up  and sit slack-jawed watching x-factor and towie like so many of  the  culture starved moronic drones of today?
you seem a bit to aggressive and negative towards what at the end of the day is a fellow town fans interests that aren't causing any trouble for anyone.
im thinking your'e very angry with your lot in life.
anyway got to go,im off to town to  buy some £5 plimsoles, some  khaki elasticated bottomed homosexual-pants and a t-shirt with a picture of a nice tart on it just so i can remind myself and others like me that i should be looking at women, that ok for you?

Have never been a mod, but grew up in those times, and well remember watching the Mods and Rockers riots in Meggies in the mid 1960's from the top of the hill going down to the railway. Was always more into heavy music, prog rock and blues in my youth, but over the ensuing period have developed a great appreciation of soul music - so very similar to blues in many respects.

Am one of the oldies who attend the Wickerman Festival in Kirkcudbright every year (google it) and I always tend to spen the vast majority of my time in the Scooter tent, where there's always a great mixture of reggae, soul - mainly the Northern genre - and blues. Last year Bad Manners headlined and I simply couldn't get in. Seen them there previously so was really disappointed as I know what a great festival act they are. The Nevil Staples band are always worth a visit, and play there semi regularly. There's always a deputation of mods up from darn sarf, complete with pork pie hats, sunglasses and shiny suits doing some strange kind of dance! Lot of northern soul fans there doing the dancing which sometimes defies the laws of gravity. A cracking weekend.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

I'm not really sure that obsessively watching quadrophenia, buying a 1980's vespa and listening to Billy Ocean Colour Scene constitutes a "lifestyle" but, like you say, each to their own.

Personally, I think it is akin to going and playing at roundheads and cavaliers at the weekend or being in a WWII re-enactment society!

HELLO EX MOD HERE.

Yes no doubt you may have been to MARK STEELS funeral last week he was a very close ex workmate of mine and many others at Tioxide. He tragically died at only 48 and the Mods and scooter lads gave him the best send off I have ever seen. ALSO about another hundred at the crem it was packed.

I worked with Mark for over 20 years and he was a keen GTFC supporter we often sat in the ponny watching  town over the years. Sadly there will be an empty seat in the Pontoon now.

I have got together with a couple of mates and we have got him a brick his nickname was MEER CAT as he often stood up on his scooter looking all around like a MEER CAT lol.

A moving tribute was payed to him by the scooter club from hull and posted on you tube see below.

RIP MARK YOU CRAZY SsOD. Probably blown  my user name cover now lol ah well, Mrs Doyle aka (ali Parker)
