After a disapointing night i think we should take a step back and have a look at ourselves. Were 4th in the league, 6 points off the top, we have one of, if not the best defence in the league and all our rivals are as inconsistant as we are.
How many of us would have settled for this at the begining of the season? How many of us would settle for where we are now at the end of the season?

That is true and I agree. But we seriously need to take advantage of times like last night . We could of gone top for the first time in god knows how many years. The crowd On Saturday would of been up because of this and the tag that goes with being top for team could have been the boost we needed but I suppose all we have to Do now is make sure we get that opportunity again.

As Clive says if we were top, the gate would have been up by a few more hundred at least. The saving grace is that we are at the minute only just a bit more consistent than those below and this league is wide open. If we are to get out we need to be ready from the off and getting stuck into the opposition regardless of were they are in the league. Some of the players are passengers and not putting a full shift in or not good enough. With a bit more guile, hunger and determination we can win this league but the players have to do it from the off and not when we go behind. I would have settled for this position at the start. I want us to win this league which this team is more than capable of, starting doing it and we will.

Last nights result just might be a good one if it sorts out some of the problems we have. I don't want to get on the managers backs but Miller has come in and done a good job and even scored then gets dropped so why do they change a winning team. S/H should make any player fight for his place in the team and not drop someone after saying do well and it's yours to lose then take it of them after doing what they asked and doing it well. We could end up with an unsettled squad when we need it most. UTM

Agree, I am more than satisfied with our position at this stage of the season, however if we are serious about competing with the top teams we need to buck our ideas up by starting on the front foot, these teams around us will improve and go on a run sooner than never, we really do have to sort our front two because apart from Hannah they can`t buy a goal

Nobody gives a crap if you are top in November. The fact of the matter is that we are not playing like a team that is capable of gaining promotion from this league. A team that is going to get promoted and playing as such would have gone to Hyde last night and won. Results aren't the only inconsistent thing about us, so is the way we play each and every game. Players too are inconsistent, our captain in particular.

I tend to agree with this yet it continues to annoy me how over the last ten years or so, every time we have a great opportunity to either take advantage of our rivals hiccups or a big home crowd with an impressive performance to get them in for the next home game we f*uck it up. In the Buckley days, Div 1 Championship days we used to rise to the occasion. It's annoying that's all. But, yes, 4th is great in all honesty and we're only 6 points of the top which is a great position to be in.

WHAT?
When you lose you should look at how you lost and how to improve for next time, so you are learning the hard way by losing games but if you win like 6-4 and they scored 4 by excrement defending you seem to forget about the 4 conceded and you don't work on strength you work on weaknesses

Think you're right aaron just as long as the same things don't keep happening. Without wanting to slag off S&H, guess that's part of the concern.
Agree with the OP.

Theres nothing there to settle for. If GTFC want to move on nights like last night are unacceptable and we shouldn't be dropping our expectations. Its only a couple of weeks ago we were humbled by Kiddy at home in the cup, last night was a sign that we are not the article and the garden isn't as rosy if we don't continue to strive for better. Never try to justify sloppy defeats, demand that the players learn from them and move on.

Good points but not sure it's about accepting sloppy defeats ? Just think it's about saying where we might have been if the mistakes had been cut out, we had more luck etc. Obviously you can't point to these things forever but in the meantime let's not go OTT or be too downhearted about where we really are ?

I think some people think were Barcelona were a non league team and unfortunatly we will sometimes put in non league performances. Even the top sides have bad runs. We can not and will not win every game. I seem to remember a certain Andy Cook scoring a hat-trick against the eventual champions Fleetwood last season. Yes we were poor last night but take away 2 individual errors that cost us a 2-0 deficit we'd be talking about a scruffy win that makes us look like champions. Football is all about fine margins, and last night those tight margins cost us. The point of my original post is that one bad game wont cost us promotion, the same as one good game wont secure it, and that i'm happy with where we are at the minute. UTM

It's frustrating to lose, once again, to a bottom four team. These dropped points against the likes of Nuneaton and Hyde may well cost us dear at the end of the season.

Interesting to see how Arsenal conceded two goals to Ajax due to obvious defensive failings. Even top clubs can get it wrong.
