So without Neilson for the next three games do we revert back to Artus on the wing or go 433? With Soares on loan which of our forwards can play wide left in a front three, is it just Southwell or could Pearson play there?

Bring Thanoj back into a midfield three with Disley and Niven, then a front three of Colbeck, Cook and Hannah

Think you might get your wish or close to it.

If Soares is not brought back(think he probably should be) then left side wondering if we could go something like this for Tamworth...
(though might say a slightly different team)

.............McKeown
.....Pond....Pearson...Miller
Hatton............^..........Thomas
....|.............Niven..............|
....v.....Disley......Thanoj.....v
............???...........???

i.e. 5 in midfield (or defence) but no wide midfielders per se, just wingbacks with Thomas especially bombing forward.
A bit defensive and a new formation but solid and balanced.

Guess we need some cover for left back and left midfield - someone who could play both could be ideal.

Well did say might play a slightly different team but just think he's better further forward than full back.

Yeah was there v Kiddy and you're right.
Thing is, if they don't play they're gonna get even more unfit/isolated and if Wood gets crocked we'll be forced to play him anyway.
Suppose I just wonder how those not in are ever gonna get in.
Guess eveyone knows (and probably hates !  ) my views about squad rotation.
Just think it might be worth considering doing NOW for a few reasons...

-  If we're bringing in new strikers to "see how they go" is it also worth bringing a few more back (Ford ?) too ?
- Not saying Hyde will be any walkover by any means but I'd probably settle for losing at Tamworth (assuming worst case we would) and getting 3 pts at Hyde with our best team.

But yeah, can obviously understand your feelings.
Just think it might be worth giving some players another chance pre-Hyde.
Whatever is true mate let's remember it was Hatton who set up Niven for 1st goal v Kiddy.

The last thing we need is to start faffing about with the back four - either making it a five / three or bringing people in and out. Pond and Pearson are sacrosanct with Woody and Thomas the full backs. That's the one part of the team that isn't broken and doesn't need fixing.

Agree. We have the best defensive record in the league. Does anyone know how Liam is getting on with his recovery?

Thing is Adam, imagine if S&H said that to the squad...

What do you think might happen if players knew they were never gonna get in no matter how they performed in training ?
Hardly motivation to push yourself to the limit for no reason if there's no "competition for places" is it ?
More likely get demotivated, isolated and cheesed off like I'Anson arguably did. (ooops I'm opening a can of worms there !   )

One other thing Adam you say Pond and Pearson are sacrosanct (not sure I agree Pond is 100% solid but fair enough) but don't forget Miller still came in from the abyss and scored the winner at Telford.

Like you say anything can happen if you believe
