Thought the lad played awesome yesterday, he has stepped his game up every season I think since being here, wears the town badge with pride. I no people doubt him at times but my word the lad does get stuck in and show grit. Perhaps some of this in midfield is what we need.

Wow, a new Bradley Wood thread after every game. Of course, this is abolutely necessary as he's well overdue the analysis.
How Wood played yesterday is exactly what we expect every time he's picked. The players are supposed to play well and make 100% effort. That's their job.

Sometimes when you have a player like Bradders who gets stuck and gives that work horse like attitude it appitimizes the tone and can lift other players to do something similar.

He had a decent game, fair play to him but he can cost you games and he does give away needless freekicks at times and picks up some silly cautions...

Played well, maybe the reason he gets a new thread after every games is that he's always one of the best performers ?

Hmm. That wasn't the reason after Southport. Granted, he always visibly gives 100% and he played well yesterday but he doesn't need a thread after every game does he? Every game - Bradley Wood with 26 replies saying the same old stuff. Everyone will now add-on, giving their opinion of Bradley Wood that we were only just reading about 2 or 3 days ago.

chasos33, the reason i thought i would do a bradders thread is most people on here seem to knock him for his commitment etc. yeh wit woo he made a mistake against southport, every player does that and learns from it. Hes town thru n thru that lad and bores me to see him get put down when hes solid.

He played well yesterday. If he can put in that type of performance consistently without giving away stupid free-kicks in dangerous areas then maybe we won't have to have this thread anymore.

Sadly there is no evidence to suggest he does learn from his mistakes.

Good, strong performance yesterday but unneccesary booking

credit where it is due, and it's due here as no matter what people may think and say, he did give it his all and he had a great game, silly booking or not. Well done Bradley Wood.

He had a good game but I'm still not convinced by him. One of their better chances at 1-0 came from him Kamakazing into a tackle when he didn't need to which carved us open. I'm all for aggression but he leaves us in the excrement more often than not.

no he doesnt, look around elsewhere in the team, this is me point, the lad seems to get the blame for a lot of things but others dont. ie pearsons constant bickering with refs and yellow cards does that every get brought up? disley as a non vocal captain and performances, eldings spooning shots. cud go on and on but on this site the doo gooders just bang on about him being the one at the foot of our defeats etc. Did anyone see the size of the lad brad had to look after yesterday? built like a brick excrement house. could any of yous do any better?

Too much to ask, I think.

This is not a dig against Wood but a comment on our defence and midfield as a whole. Despite yesterday's performance, we gave away a number of silly and unnecessary free-kicks in our own half. To be fair, we gave away fewer silly ones than usual and a few of their free-kicks came from bizarre refereeing decisions, but we seem to hack players down in wide positions much too often.

Whether or not we've been told to play in this manner, I don't know, but we really need to stop offering the opposition so many chances to put the ball into our box.

I think all the players were up for it yesterday, i don't know whether Wood inspired everyone else.

As gtfc98 said, there was an occasion where Mansfield broke in the first half, when Wood left the man he was marking to go and try to win a ball he was pretty unlikely to win. Low and behold the ball is passed around him and the guy he was marking attacked down their inside left channel.

It's these little things that seemed to go un-noticed by most as he seems to be immune to criticism because of his aggressive, crowd-pleasing style.

I think some of us would rather people judge him and his performances with a more balanced view. And also it's clear that there are several people on the forum who know him personally, so i don't even bother reading their blatantly biased thoughts.

Bias ? I doubt that. He shouldn't have been replaced by Hatton after the Southport game. Yes Bradley acted stupidly for their equaliser but in my opinion he was man of the match that day.

How can the man of the match be the man who caused you to drop two points? Skrtel played well and scored a goal on Sunday for Liverpool but there was no way he could have been man of the match as he was at fault for the equaliser.

But was still the player who was at fault for the goal which dropped two points. I'm not having a go at Bradley, by all accounts he has done well this season apart from that one mistake but if you were the manager and you only conceded a goal through a silly mistake from one player, surely its not inconceivable to think that dropping him might be a good idea?

Why do we not celebrate our successes more?  It is easy to be critical.

I am a big Bradley fan, despite his "areas for improvement".  He is still young and will improve his overall game.  He has shown that he has the desire to improve.  His attitude, spirit and workrate are very commendable and welcome in the team.   Particularly, as other more gifted players do not always demonstrate these key qualities.

I have posted the above views before.  I have no personal knowledge of Bradley, I am just an impartial fan.  His spirit etc has wider benefits for the team.  He will make a good leader in a few years time.

Seriously though as you might of gathered I do rate him and stick up for him on here(not that he needs me too as he doesn't mind what gets posted about him). His pre season 'form' has carried through into this season and I hope he keeps it up! Good player great attitude and great lad!

See you at wembley brads , when you score the winner to send us up

Why do we not celebrate our successes more?  It is easy to be critical.

I am a big Bradley fan, despite his "areas for improvement".  He is still young and will improve his overall game.  He has shown that he has the desire to improve.  His attitude, spirit and workrate are very commendable and welcome in the team.   Particularly, as other more gifted players do not always demonstrate these key qualities.

I have posted the above views before.  I have no personal knowledge of Bradley, I am just an impartial fan.  His spirit etc has wider benefits for the team.  He will make a good leader in a few years time.

I have no doubt that Bradley has a fantastic attitude and I'm sure he will improve and will, IMO, have a career in the FL. But there are still key areas of his game which need improvement and like Tommy says, some people ignore these areas because he likes a tackle.

How can the man of the match be the man who caused you to drop two points? Skrtel played well and scored a goal on Sunday for Liverpool but there was no way he could have been man of the match as he was at fault for the equaliser.

lets get this straight, he was at fault for giving a freekick away that led to a goal, he wasn't actually at fault for the goal, the defence should not allow a centre half a free header 6 yards out which was the reason we conceded.

Yes that's true. But it was a ridiculous free kick to concede, in that area, at that stage of the game, when only one goal up.

We are in the conference, players will make mistakes and he had been head and shoulders above any of the other town players up until that point. He would be a guaranteed starter for me, you know exactly what you are getting and he is improving every season.

Yeah fair enough, at least you know you're guaranteed 100% from him if nothing else. And at time this season we've needed someone like that to lift the others.

Well he certainly went about doing everything that I was busy criticising Hatton for not doing on Saturday at Wrexham!! As it stands at the moment I think he is a shoe-in for the right back position. No contest!

He had a good game but I'm still not convinced by him. One of their better chances at 1-0 came from him Kamakazing into a tackle when he didn't need to which carved us open. I'm all for aggression but he leaves us in the excrement more often than not.

im still confused why certain people dont like him its just another fenty type band wagon, regardless of what he does.. i guarentee if we were playing against him and he played like yesterday, wed all be saying , that Mansfield right back was solid all game. etc etc

I suppose he gets a lot of mentions on here because he is 'different'.  I don't suppose we've had a player quite like Bradley for many a year.  You can't help but notice him.  I agree with Headingly regarding his importance to the team.

The feeling on here was desperate after the Nuneaton game - we didn't lose, but there was nothing of any interest during the whole of the game...as a spectacle, its entertainment value was zilch.  Some people (lowerfindus?) aren't impressed with the style of football that we play, but at least with Bradley in the team there is a bit of excitement, something to get the crowd going (and wasn't that what people were crying out for after the Nuneaton game?)  Even the manager said the players needed to 'man up' - why they ever left him on the bench during that game I'll never know.

PS Talking of entertainment, it's just occurred to me - who were the two players of ours that ran into each other and knocked each other over yesterday?

See -  I come home from work - 50 replies in today's Bradley Wood thread, pretty much all saying stuff we've heard 100 times before. There'll be another Bradley Wood thread along tomorrow I'm sure, for those who just can't go 24 hours without listening to their own boring, repetitive views of this player, good or bad.
