For anyone who hasn't heard it yet here it is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19382982#asset

Don't quite know what to make of it to be honest. He puts the inept attacking display down to lack of confidence but I'm not so sure. Like I said in another thread, for 70 minutes we were very poor and showed nothing.

Thoughts?

I think its a mixture of confidence and the fact that the players we have bought in are not as good as they think. The  writing was on the wall almost all the way through preseason. Add that to a management team  that are not up to this level of management, Fair play to them for sorting out the defence side of things, but past that they no nothing . probably due to the fact that they was both defenders. Far than looking at the play offs i think we will be looking at  the bottom 4 places and how we can keep out of them

The problem is not the players, it's the tactics. The gap between midfield and attack is way too big and because we insist on playing long balls up to the front two, who yesterday looked pretty immobile to me, there is no one in position to pick up the loose ball. S & H need to take a long look at themselves because they brought in these players, they know what their strengths and weaknesses are but their tactics are making decent players look poor.

I don't think we shall finish in the bottom 8 because the defence are too solid

Look, it's a bit early to be predicting where we'll finish - hence my opposition to so many polls on it. I think all we can say, on the evidence so far, is that we don't look like a team who will up at the top because of the very obvious shortcomings.

I though Hurst's post-match was either protective or a little bit deluded. He seemed generally pleased and not just with the result, when I think everyone else could see that our team is missing so many qualities that will make them competitive. I could only conclude that Hurst was in protective mode - trying to build the players' confidence by refraining from disparaging them publicly - especially the attacking players, and we can all understand that I guess. In reality, we need a huge improvement as an attacking force and our defensive mettle is yet to be tested by a good team. Maybe that will come on Monday.

Reading the wrexham forum they seem to think We'll be top 8 come the end of the season and that we are the dirtiest team they have seen for a long time!

I thought a few of their players should have been booked and Niven was lucky to stay on the field.  Their fans were also doing my head screaming and shouting for everything.  I can't see them being in the top 5 they haven't replaced the 2 strikers and that showed.  We just need to cut out the long balls at the back and show some composure when in dangerous positions but there's only going to be so many chances before the duo become under extreme pressure.

We had 4 yellow's they had 3 which resulted in a player being sent off.  They should have had more bookings if our attacking build up play would have been better.  Three of our bookings came in the first half but as they got tired they were chopping players down more and more, if we had a more attacking play it would have resulted in more bookings for them without a doubt.

What is worrying glaringly obvious is the one shot on goal and one shot off, two bloody shots all game is not acceptable, strikers don't always score with one effort, it's a percentage game, the more chances the higher the opportunities to get on the score sheet.

The showings so far from defence are solid but after that it's all pear shaped, we need to play the ball on the ground because when we did we had Wrexham all over the shop.

Unless you're playing Town I bet Town are the team with the least shots on target against them in the entire Football League, with possibly the least shots on target for.
