What a defensive rock he is becoming. I think he would make a great captain too; constantly talking to the players an the referee. Player Of The Year; so far.

Agree with this, having disley as captain is laughable and sums up the management at the minute.

Unbelievable.

Agreed, Disley seems to be immune to being dropped as he is captain, lets at least make somebody who shouldn't be dropped captain. I'd like to see Niven and Thanoj in midfield, not Disley and Niven or Disley and Thanoj.

oh and its not difficult to be player of the year so far

The thing is; Pearson won't be here after January if he keeps this up. He is winning everything and that run into the box was great; until the finish.

He reminds me of a certain Rob Jones.

Widely cticised on the fishy this time last year and said to be out of his depth, bearing that in mind, maybe the newcomers this season should be supported and given a chance to settle

I think Pond has a tendency to switch off and lose his man... He was decent today but still let Webster? in at the far post to get a free header in from 3 yards out... Luckily Mckeown made a world class save...

Shaun Pearson is one of the players on my 'list', so I'm glad he seems to have done well.  It was still a bit surprising to hear John Tondeur compare him to Franz Beckenbauer this afternoon though!

I got very bored with listening to the game and started focusing on other things, but I think I heard Southwell's name mentioned?  I assume he came on fairly late in the game - any good?

I agree with this.

Now Miller is back I'm hoping we go back to a Miller-Pearson partnership at centre-back.

While we've still got Pond I'd like to see him in midfield, alongside Niven in front of the back 4, with Thanoj, Soares and Colbeck in front of them free to interchange between their positions.

Hmmm interesting.

Ponds natural position was midfield and a good one by all accounts.

Midfield must need sorting, Pond made more forward runs than Disley, Artus and Niven put together

what do you think is the chance of signing Pond or extending his loan longer to benefit us because he seems to like it here.

Would love to see that. At the very least it would be solid at the back and we can't get any worse going forward!

It's only a matter of time before shaun chips in with the goals from set plans, hope we've been working on because we have some big players I've notice they all stand together holding each other around the penalty spot then make runs can't say its worked yet though.

He came with such a high quality CV that he failed to live up to originally. But he has made great progress and is in the top 3 players at the club. I hope it carries on.

Completely agreed, I wasn't too sure about him last season, especially during the first half of the season and the jury was still out after a better second half but he really has just found his feet and took the step up well. Absolute rock, nothing it beating him at the minute, neither in the air or on the floor and it one of the big positives at the minute. He does need to shut up now though, is that 3 bookings already? Certainly 1 of them against Stockport I think it was came from him gobbing off one to many times to the ref!

I'm not sure it matters who we have in midfield bearing in mind we completely bypass it 75% of the time.

Difficult to choose as none of them have stood out so far. Although you've also got to consider the service up to them all has generally been very poor.

I'd be leaning towards G.Pearson or Cook I think. I believe Pearson will come good and he does appear to have the strength to hold it up when its played into his feet. He's also mobile enough to lead the line on his own. And with enough movement around him from supporting attackers, and better service on the deck to him, I think he could do very well for us. Cook's attributes should make him a contender for this role but he's not looked as strong/commanding as he did in pre-season as yet.

I doubt the managers will go with that formation though. And if they do go 2 up top I'd even be tempted to throw Southwell in from the start on Monday.

Although I was no great fan of the panther his precence undoubtedly had a positive effect on performances . In pond I think we have the ideal replacement , in fact a better player . Miller back in the back 4 , pond in defensive midfield . Sign him up fenty

If i was pond i would make it conditional on being played in midfield only. Obviously covering cb when needed.

I was under the impression that at Fleetwood he wanted to play CM and that he was willing to go out on loan to get more midfield games? Must of imagined it.

I think he would make a great captain too

Said this months ago myself.
Someone who can lead from the front.
Possibly lacking in experience but looks ideal captain material.
If things go well on Monday then fair enough but if not, perhaps they'll need to review the setup ?
Let's just see how things go first!
