Just shows what you know about human nature,

Some players need shouting at to get the best out of them,

BUT

Some only respond to encouragement,

very true

To be honest if any of the town players read The Fishy

Their confidence must be at a all time low,

Maybe even if they play rubbish we should say how good they are ,

AND

Were very unlucky to lose , then they might play better and win,

No ?  only a thought.

Sorry Pete but I think a hard time on here is the very least most of the players and the management deserve, personally I think a (real physical) kick up the bottom is called for but unfortunately I can't reach from here. Certainly something to concentrate the mind is needed.

Trouble is it's the old story, short contracts, no connection or inbuilt loyalty to the town, happy just to have a job and to pick up the money every week.

What I am trying to say is,

Football is a confidence game,

We need to encourage them not just call them all the time,

We are only 4 games into the season, last year we were losing 5-0 at Braintree,

Then later we went on a 15 game unbeaten run,

So you never know whats around the corner,

We can only hope.

Mind games young lady,

You tell somebody they are rubbish they start to believe you,

SO,

??????

I see what you mean, Pete, and I can sympathise with what you want to achieve, but....

if I knew I'd had a bad game and someone told me how brilliant I was, I'd think that person was a nutter or a liar ... or both!

No, players need to be told the truth...

I'm not saying don't need to be encouraged and that we should just go mad at them all the time but if their performances are consistently poor and they lack effort, then they are fair game and should expect it...

Well maybe not go so far as to say they were brilliant,

BUT

Say; you tried very hard and were unlucky , things will get better if you keep putting the effort in son.

I honestly think they are all giving there best, but they all play better if there confidence were high.

Ah, that's like the kind of support I used to try to give to Hegs, even though it felt like I was the only one supporting him at times.

Good job they're not on long contracts then.

Two years some of them and that's two years too long.
