Millionaire Les Scadding takes over as Newport County chairman

EuroMillions lottery winner Les Scadding has been appointed chairman of Newport County.
Scadding, who won the £45.5m jackpot with his wife in 2009, had recently accepted an offer to join Newport's board.
The lifelong fan has now taken the role of chairman as the Blue Square Bet Premier club prepare for fresh investment from local businessmen.
in July, Chris Blight resigned as chairman after 10 years on the board.
Blight reportedly received abusive telephone calls both on his mobile and at home from individuals, unhappy at suggestions that he had blocked potential new investment into the club.

Cant blame the fella, hope he has a good time doing it, registers as a player just like the Donny (?) chairman a few years ago and makes an appearance...in goal against us preferably.

Those teams have to some degree built on success, started small and developed without the massive structures the likes of us, Luton, Wrexham etc have brought down with us and the debt that we built up trying to survive in or to return to much higher divisions.

Newport obviously went pop years ago and have rebuilt from humbler surroundings, Fleetwood have had something like 5 successive promotions to get where they are now.
We have been on the slide for a decade while retaining high levels of staff and facilities probably only breaking even or making profit in two of those years IIRC.
The money we have wasted paying off players and managers over the last 3/4 seasons alone would bankroll some of our competitors.
Poor business planning to some degree, luck plays a part too, stonewall penalty not given at Cardiff for instance could have been a sliding doors moment, probably be in the Premiership now if the ref had given that!! Lol

Full marks to the bloke. He's enacting one of my greatest fantasies (well obviously not involving Newport).

Crawley
Fleetwood
Forest Green, although we've no idea if that'll work or not
Newport, ditto

Who else is there?

This Newport fan is just copying that bloke in Dream Team anyway

You can still get 16/1 with Sky Bet and Marathon/Panbet. I bet the maximum both bookies allowed me with each of them. A couple of others would only take pence. Considering they are already top of the league it's not a bad bet anyway. They did well last season too.

Fair play to the bloke but the sad fact is he is simply wasting his money...even if they get into the league he'll never realistically see any of that money again and money can run out...just ask Doncaster's chairman...
