Read his articles for a while and always been intrigued by who it might be. However an extract from his book appears to drop the biggest hint in that its a play who has had rumours of an addiction to methadone in the past - unfounded apparently, but they were still published by a red top.

Has anybody in the past heard of a this rumour in relation to a Prem player?

I didnt know about Jimmy Bullard being on methadone?

The rumour the secret footballer talks about is that it he had a back operation and was prescribed painkillers (obviously) a red top then twisted this into becoming him being addicted to painkillers as a result and in turn methadone.

I am leaning towards it being Kevin Davies if im honest.
