Can someone please explain what a 'rolling deal' is and how that gives either the Managers or the club any security?

A 1 year rolling contract means that either party has to give one years notice to end the contract.

I thought a rolling contract as in the managers case allows both club and manager to be able to part terms after a year of their current deal has expired so would it be a rolling contract after sept if that's when their deal runs out?
