Just been told were closing in on the signing of louis Briscoe from mansfield?????  

Is this from the same source you had last year? If so, I would take it with a pinch of salt

I think he can play ST and maybe RW

Anyone know anything about him ?

Is he still under contract? JF mentioned paying a fee for someone. Time will tell.

He scored a great goal against Grimsby Town, for Mansfield when we won 7-2 it was a great goal that flew in the top corner would be a good signing but i thought we needed a Left Winger i was gutted we never got Robbie Willmott.

Think he had his best spell playing on the left for mansfield according to stagsnet.

Always thought of him as quite a good player, IF this is true then it would be a good signing IMO.

He's played Left Mid i never knew. He played Right against us good signing if we can get him.

See he was at Ilkeston for a short while in 2009, does anyone know if he played under S&H?

I was thinking that but it was David Holdsworth who bought him to Mansfield from Ilkeston, supprised he hasen't tried to taking him to Lincoln City he's building a team of his ex players.

In the post match interview Scott says along with a centre-half and a goalkeeper there also looking for a wide/forward player, so he'd fit the bill.

He played with S&H at Ilkeston not under them.

Scott, Hurst, Church, Garner and Briscoe all played together (under Holdsworth) at Ilkeston during their promotion season to the BSN. Half way through the season Holdsworth took both Briscoe and Garner to Mansfield with him, whilst S&H became managers of Ilkeston (Scott in dugout, Hurst continued playing)

Their topscorer with 13 goals in 10/11, their fans say he wasnt as good last season but he still managed 11 goals. One of the better wingers in the league in my opinion and would be a good signing. Not sure he is suited to how Cox wants to play and apparently he wasn't in their squad last night in a friendly when over 20 others were, so there could be something in the rumour.

oh and he's only 24 so fits in with the age-range we have been signing.

Gotta mate whose a Mansfield fan and apparently he's quite a fans favorite there. Says they'd be gutted to lose him and their loss would certainly be our gain. Sounds promising if true...

Paul Cox dropped Briscoe for last nights friendly as he was angry with his display in the friendly before. But says its up to Louis to prove he deserves a place.

'Cod.GTFC' He actually scored 19 goals in total that season, best winger in the league in my opinion that season.

Last season was different, still scored a decent amount due to his pure raw ability but he had fitness issues, looked on the hefty side and his work ethic does not suit Paul Cox one bit.

In one game you will experience why we love Briscoe, and hate him. Scores loads of screamers with his beauty of a shot(including one against Grimsby) but also lacks effort and does stupid things quite a lot.

To inconsistant, even for this level at times.

It's a good signing for anybody in this league if true because he will always get a decent amount of goals. Can't see him getting played next season though, if your not willing to work your balderdash off in our team you don't get played, simple as that.

Not quite sure if he would be our loss, be a gain for anybody though (if that makes sense  ) I'd rather us keep him to be honest though, but wouldn't be to miffed in he did leave despite his great ability.

I can't really see any laziness being accepted by Shorty and Shouty so, if he was to sign for us, there may be trouble ahead...

P.S. I do remember that belter against us the other season. Still not the best goal of the game, however!

Thanks for the info mate, although I don't expect this to be true - nothing personal to SF but I do look at track records.... (surely fair enough?)
